Hey guys.. Just wanted to introduce myself here, as I just joined the forum.. I currently DD a 2011 Silverado truck and am thinking of trading it in on a 2013 WRX.. I have another beast for when I want to have some fun, but need some more excitement for my DD.

1. I just wanted to hear everyones thought on DDing a WRX??

2. I was thinking of just getting a base WRX, but am not thinking I might want at least leather, leather is only available in the limited model right?

3. What is everyone seeing for gas mileage, not really too concerned, but would like an improvement from 15 mpg I am seeing now.

I think thats all the questions I have for now.

Thanks

A wrx is nice for a DD. I made the switch from a 1999 toyota camry, which had leather seats and gave 16mpg. I have the base wrx model and I'm so glad to be rid of leather because they're a pain on extremely hot/cold days. As for mpg, it depends on your mods, tune, where you drive it (city vs highway), and the weight of your foot.

I got the 2013 hatch wrx and I'm averaging about 25 mpg. I have the base model since I thought the wrx leather looked rather cheap. The dealership told me it wasnt real leather? Either way I like how the cloth looks better than the leather. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses.. I would be happy with anything over 20 mpg. I think I will leave it stock, until the warranty would run out. Basically I cant decide if the leather and extra features is worth the extra $3k over the price of base model.

Go to a dealership and check out the different options they have. We can't decide things like that for you

You can get an upholstery shop to do aftermarket leather for under $1k that is better than anything Subaru ever dreamed of offering. Decide your colors, heat options, etc. I saw that on a base Outback back in 08 when we were looking for the wife.

Or you can find someone to trade with for around $6-700 ... I think the leather (faux or not) is nice but I might be biased because I have a limited

Thinking the base model will be fine for now.. Can also do something with the interior at another time.. Just need to save up a few Gs for a down payment.

Im pretty sure if you can handle your current weekend warrior,, you can easily upgrade your wrx. Just don't do one right after the other. Just enjoy each one.

Default Welcome.

Nice Merc! The problem with these WRXs is that once the bug bites you it bites HARD!

It would be wise to keep it stock if you want it to last. A lot of potential can be opened up with just a good safe tune, but warranty (I did not care). I would not be surprised if after getting the WRX you want to get rid of the Merc so you can dump more $ into it. These cars will put most cars in the ditch when it comes to the twisties. Really.

Good DDs as well as fun-time-cars for sure. Enjoy!

Thanks..

I dont think I could ever get rid of the AMG. It just puts too many smiles on my face to let it go ... Being in the northeast I need a AWD car for a DD, so the WRX seems like the perfect choice. I think a stage 2 will be all I need when it comes to a DD, but I know what you mean about the mod bug.
