I painted the Falken lettering on my tires a few years ago for fun,
but I unfortunately can't find a pic of it

how do you actually do this? is it a template or just carefully painting over the raised letters on the sidewall?

Most of the letters aren't actually raised. They have a raised outline and the center is pretty easy to color within that. I have seen some paint pens that are made for this purpose at autozone if I remember correctly.

I believe this will do the job

Or this

I don't think touch up paint will stick. It will probably just crack and flake off if it can even stick at all.

I just used Sharpie paint pen I found in an arts and craft store. Bought a few colors and decided to try them all out. Will def be painting letter in the beginning of each nice season before putting summer wheels back on bcuz laying on the ground doing this sucked lol.

I used a paint marker from the hardware store aswell and painted the raised letters.

Few things:

GO SLOW take your time. This will determine weather or not it looks great close up or from only 20 feet away.

Keep the tires warm. I did it in my 50 degree garage with halogen lights sitting on them before and after I painted. Paint has a certain temp range for it to be applied!

And did I mention GO SLOW. I can't stress this enough, take your time. Mine took me like 2 hours to do and I still think I went too fast. But I also don't have the best coloring in the line skills. Hahahah

Years ago I used a sharpie silver marker to color the letters on my motorcycle's tires. Held up really well for a long time.
