Default I need tire fitment help.

Hello all. I have a 2006 STI with 18x9.5 38 offset wheels. Currently I am using 225/40 Hankook Ventus v12 left over from a previous install. I am looking for a beefy flush set up. I have been looking at a lot of 255/35 tires and some appear to be strecthed some while others are not. Hankooks looked stretched in that size, Yokohama S drives and Nitto NT555 looked to be a little wider but it is hard to tell based on how small wheeldude post pictures. My front end is rolled and my rear is shaved on coil overs. I dont want a stanced or strecthed look, just a good low meaty flush look. Are my assumptions correct about the Yoko and Nitto's running wider then the standard 255 with most brands?

Start with a budget, and go from there, if you have moneys for a nice tire then we'll send you to a 255/35 star spec that runs wide, or an RSR that does the same.

From what I read on google and various car forums is that the star spec are discontinued. My budget is around 800. I tried looking up the tire under Dunlop and couldn't get any hits. All I could get was the driezza tire.

s.drives are pretty true to size. to get a properly square tire on that wheel you need a 265-275.

Federal > *

be ready for some fender work though.

Front is rolled an rear is shaved. I just don't want crazy camber work. Can't stand stance look.

well you'll either need to do that or pull fenders if you don't want to stretch tires.

that offset is too low and the wheels are too wide. want less camber or fender work? you need a higher offset.

RSR are the best bang for the buck. Don't worry about the Star Specs, imo. they'll probably be like $300 per tire for your size when they do finally come out.

Noting what sc00by4life said, federals run wider than most tires.

*just looked at tirerack remaining inventory for that size in star specs v1, less than 4 left and they cost $313 and thats close out price lol

How bad would 255 look?

Just look up the wheel width and try to find some pictures of whatever tire you have with that setup

I have and it is very hard to tell without very good close up. Google is hit and miss and sometimes sizes are miss tagged.

This is exactly why I run 17's. I run a 17x9.5 +38 with a 255/40. I also have no roll or pull. With some Camber, the right ride height, and a stiff suspension you can do it.
