Default 2013 NYAS: Subaru Press Conference & Vehicle 'Walk-Around' Videos

Subaru has published some videos created at the 2013 NYAS, but not via YouTube as has been done for previous auto shows. Maybe Subaru wants to maintain tighter control of these vids. I've provided below the most-direct links I could manage and if Subaru puts these on YouTube later, I'll update the links. The vehicle 'walk-arounds' are conducted by Dominick Infante, SOA's National Manager of Product Communications.

03:11 - NYAS Subaru Press Conference (only the WRX Concept part)
02:26 - Walk-Around - 2013 WRX Concept

One of the things I noticed about Subaru's press conference is that Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, FHI's President and CEO, was a no-show. A few weeks ago, he was the key speaker at Subaru's press conference at the Geneva Motor Show. I guess, technically, Tokyo is closer to Geneva than NY and I imagine March skiing is far superior in Switzerland compared to NY. Maybe he just couldn't muster any excitement about hybrids and the WRX and stayed home.

During his design review of the WRX Concept, Osamu Namba, FHI's General Manager of Design Dept., neglects to mention one of the most striking features of his design, IMHO: its short front overhang.

Here's an interview with SOA President Tom Doll done at Subaru's NYAS stand just after Subaru's press conference there.

This video contains a brief interview with SOA's Dominick Infante. IMHO, the interviewer does a poor job and the aspect of the WRX Concept which seems to have impressed her the most was the paint.

He's a little cheesy and the neon green calipers have nothing to do with future electrification of the car. Plus, I think the WRX has always been a great looking car... Especially the blob eye and wide body 2011+.

Paint looks great but is it just one coat? or they actually going to use more coats. Subaru has always been crappy on the durability of the paint.

A bump to note that top post has been updated with several videos uploaded to YouTube by Subaru Global TV.

The full press release is now two minutes longer than the previous version, with the extra time added up front to show the count-down, etc.

A new Walk-Around of the WRX Concept by Subaru's Chief Designer, Osamu Namba, has been added.

The XV Crosstrek Hybrid Walk-Around is two minutes longer than the previous version.

A "Behind the Scenes" video has been added. Nobody speaks in it. A couple of scenes make more clear how huge the press scrum was at Subaru's press conference.

The reason the front overhang is not mentioned is because it would be functionally impossible to reproduce it in a car that actually ran.

Also that WR blue III paint has more flake in it than a ranger bass boat.
