You guys want soft cars? I say you're all soft. Wanting luxury items doesn't mean you're more "refined" than me, more "mature" than me, it just means you've been told that you need these things and you accept it. I hope Subaru fills that niche that other manufacturers are falling over themselves to avoid - sparse content for a good price. Much better than throwing a bunch of good-for-nothing tech that only grabs the more flighty buyers looking for a new-fangled piece of tech in their car because "The Joneses down the street have one so I should too".

(no hard feelings guys, just my opinion and not necessarily one you have to share)
Agreed. I'll take performance over a bunch of touchscreens any day as long as it means the price stays down. Don't give me some soft, camry ride either. Nothing worse than a performance car with a buick suspension!

Tuna- for a $40K car you are on point, not too much to ask for at all. Maybe since the cars will mo longer be Imprezas this will happen.

The Legacy is so round and ugly. No nice body lines and too plain. For the 27 - 38 crowd I dont think it is sporty enough looking.

Yea please, I couldn't find that. *edit* ew dear, I found it. Yea this would put the WRX in supercar pricing territory!

I do believe that drive shaft is going OVER the engine, not through it. That engine sits just a couple inches off the ground.

I like it. Especially with the facelift and suspension enhancements.

I personally believe(no hidden knowledge here) they will bring back a GT with the 2015MY redesign. Why not now that they can run regular on the new DIT and they have the HTLCVT?

edit: Sorry. You said 27-38. Just remembered I turned 39 a couple weeks ago.

GT means it must have a manual 6 speed thank you.

Japan (as usual) already has the Legacy GT with the HTLCVT at it's core. Additionally, when the GT was dropped in the US for the MY2013 lineup, they added the "Legacy Sport". While nothing performance-wise is very sporty except for a slightly different rear suspension, among it's options they did use the same 18" High Luster Alloy Wheels that the Legacy GT over in Japan uses.

At least at our dealership, the Legacy Sport has been quite popular for folks looking for a sportier look on the fuel-efficient Legacy platform. While some have interpreted this as the GT's "replacement" in the US Market, I think it's more of a placeholder for the GT's return to the lineup.

In the larger scope of things, I do think that Subaru in the US is looking to turn some heads in the way of sport models again. There was a time when you could get almost every model in a turbocharged variant. Fast-forward to 2013 and we're left with the BRZ (which, while unturbocharged, is still pretty sweet), the WRX/STi on a facelifted 2008 platform and the 3rd Generation Forester XT. But now with the new '14 Forester XT and the new WRX design coming to us in the near future, I can't help but wonder if a resurgence is in progress.

It's obvious that in recent years, Subaru has focused on fuel efficiency. In the current economy, such a move was necessary for "the little guy" to survive in the auto industry. But now Subaru has achieved that with the help of 3rd Generation Boxer Engine designs. They weren't able to focus on fuel efficient designs AND sport designs at the same time, so they're effectively moving down their checklist. It's like the "Eat your broccoli if you want dessert" rule for the 6-year-old at the dinner table.

I think it would be cool if Subaru came out with a new model for the WRX and STi that was smaller and very performance oriented. They could also come out with a turbocharged Impreza (call it whatever you want) that would basically replace what we now call a WRX. Everybody is happy.

My only reservation is that I don't see a smaller, newer WRX co-existing with the BRZ well. But then again, Subaru has always said the BRZ is supposed to be low volume, limited availability, and potentially short-lived. Hopefully we find out soon.

I'd be happy if this happened but there will always be somebody upset. Hell I'd be happy if all they did is put the front wheels on the BRZ back a few inches to fit AWD and called it the the WRX. Actually that would be an interesting experiment to see which performs and sells better given all the AWD/RWD debate surrounding the BRZ development.

Don't know whether anyone has noticed, but the Subaru WRX page on the NYAS website looks like this, whereas all the other pages (including the Legacy's and STI's, unfortunately) look different.

http://www.autoshowny.com/galleries/cars/subaru/wrx

So yeah, pretty sure we'll see the next WRX in a few days.

Two out of three pictures on the STI page are of a WRX. Whoever makes those pages isn't too bright.

Yeah well...

If they put a concept picture on an unchanged car that would be a whole other level of stupid.

We shall see hahaha.

Stock photo. It's a Lotus, actually. The STi photo is actually of a wingless WRX. The Forester is still the MY2013, too.
