You know, I was looking at it, and I was thinking the same thing. The front end looks exactly like the impreza concept. I can't believe they'd reuse the same concept car, especially since the concept is no longer relevant as the car is in production.

The profile is a bit "evo" but not that far removed from the profile of the current sedan. Certainly smaller, it appears.

I'll reserve judgement for the production model. Either needs 1 more door or 2 fewer doors, imo. But its a start.

Subarus have bangle butt now? I can't say I'm really excited about this concept. It seems to mean that the WRX will look just like the Impreza, since this concept looks just like the Impreza concept.

Great concept...hopefully it's close to the direction they're going/they went with the production model.

So if the concept WRX looks like a massaged version of the concept Impreza, then in production it's going to be ... wait for it ... a massaged version of the production Impreza? Kinda like we've predicted all along?

Few things I've noticed

MASSIVE Brembo type brakes on a WRX?
Yellow brake calipers?
Yellow badging? (Return of the V-limited?)
Yellow exhaust tips?
Black roof (CF?)?

Yeah, I'm just thinking outloud, but we can speculate.

Based on what's been said and speculated, you can see the car resembles the Concept Tourer which teh 5door should look like, but I think with an even nicer front end. Car will be a more "premium" offering, no longer an Imprezza line, but a new WRX line up, with more fitting quality inside and out to reflect the move upmarket... If the WRX is this nice, I can't wait to see an Sti version... I think they have to, love Subaru's but the current WRX is just not as nice as the competition with regards to interior quality, the Golf R blows it away and that is the old Golf R with a new one a year away that car will be even better in interior quality and premium options (options that were only on luxury cars only a few years ago, laser cruise, etc)

I think the concept is simply gorgeous, let's just hope it looks similiar to it for production...

Well, since the WRX is no longer an Impreza, it's got more freedom to be a true rally-bred animal. I REALLY like this direction.

A random chop of the Impreza concept a few years ago. Looks like Subaru didn't even try...

THIS IS A CHOP

Given that there is a WRX announcement days away, and the detail and quality of these pics, and the resemblance to the Impreza concept, I think we are indeed looking at a legitimate WRX concept car. If these are fakes, somebody spent a lot of time on this to just release them on an obscure blog. I could see Car and Driver commissioning something like this, but not a random blog.

Bingo! And that's fine by me. It frees them up to focus on handling, steering, transmission, interior refinement and all the other stuff that could be better...

I just hope it doesn't have rat fur for a headliner and a decent steering wheel. I had to buy a $600 wheel to get one better than my wife's Honda.

I'm still gunning for the Advanced Tourer concept as a next STI although I'd be happy with that blue render/chop a ways up the thread.

Link for renders/photos, need to translate it:
http://blogautomobile.fr/exclu-subar...#axzz2Og4i4PjS

A lot of photos if it's a fake they spent a bunch of time on it, if not it looks really good.

It's the french translation of Jalopnik's text mostly.

Here's the deal. The WRX is it's own model now. The Crosstrek, the Legacy, the Outback, the Forester, they're all their own models. But they all look similar, don't they? There's finally a unifying look for Subaru again whereas before the designs kind of drifted apart. There have always been shared components, from frames to dashboards to body panels. This is nothing new.

So is the new WRX it's own thing? Of course, it's performance oriented for the rally course! Does it look like an Impreza? Sure does (but so does EVERYTHING ELSE). I still think it has enough distinct differences from the Impreza, both aesthetically and in function.

You mean Jalopnik's text is an English translation of their French text.

I hear that. Not that this isn't SICK.

The lines look pretty realistic, I'm going to remain hopeful that they'll keep as true as possible to this concept. And GOD I wish they would keep those wheels. Here's to seeing a 4 and 5 door production debut in Tokyo this year.

Rally-bred... then it should have smaller brakes! I can't fit 15's over those!

The Crosstrek and Impreza use the same body structure, drivetrain and stampings. It's the same car with a few different components.. just branded differently.

Corporate Look and same car on a lifted suspension are not the same thing.
