Default Turbo legacy transmission same as wrx?!

HI all- I read that the turbo legacy (usd 91-94 )5 speed manual used the same transmission as the wrx. Is this true? How strong is this tranny? I would like to build an engine up to about 250-300hp. Is this a good choice for a tranny or no?
I'm considering puting this older tranny (from a 92 turbo legacy) into a 96 legacy ls chasis that currently has an auto. Will it bolt right in or will there be issues? What about the axles and the driveshaft?
Thanks
Brent

during that era yes, the Legacy turbo and impreza WRX V1-4 used the same tranny. there were a few varations but they all had the same basic setups.

The 91-94 legacy MT is the same as used in the impreza.
As for swapping from auto to manual, this is a big enough job. Mechanically its fairly straight forward, but there are wiring issues, once the auto is removed. I have done a converison on a MY00 WRX, but whilst the car is running, all is not as it should be.
Speedo not working, I tried, but havent got it sorted yet.
Car idles at 1500 rpm, again a ecu wiring alteration required, but cant find any details of pinouts for this model.
Also be sure the rear diff corresponds to the front one of the manual box.
From memory, you will need, the entire clutch assembly, including pedal and master cylinder. Flywheel. Propshaft, gear linkage and interior trim surrounds. Gearbox mounting cradle and bolts. Possibly new downpipe as someone said the auto was different???
The manual 5sp isnt renowned for its strength, from any model, be it impreza or legacy
