Default '12-'14 OCI 7.5k vs '15 OCI 6k?

Hey guys. So I have a '13 Impreza Hatch and I've been following the 7.5k / 6 month oil change interval since I bought it. It has this in the manual as well for the maintenance schedule. However, the '15 model has it changed to 6k / 6 months. Does anyone know why the interval changed? When I took it in to the dealership to change the oil, they have the 6k interval on my oil change sticker now. I'm going to stick with the 7.5k / 6 month interval as well as the maintenance schedule for now.

My guess is that people were complaining about having to add .5-1 Qt over the full 7.5K OCI so they reduced it to 6K so less people will get the low-oil light. Overall these motors are very easy on the oil.

I'm testing a 6k interval, but your interval depends on your driving style, habits, and conditions.

I was changing at 4k, but did a used oil analysis from Blackstone, and they said give 6k a try. I'll try 6k and send in another test and go from there. I don't think I'll go much longer than 7.5k.

It depends on your driving, not some arbitrary mileage or time interval.

i've seen on mine over 8.3k is easy(that was amsoil SS 0w-20, blackstone told me to try 10K next). in fact my next change will be testing a few things. one is a 5w-20 oil (so i will do a UOA at 3k to see if it is ok and wearing normally, i think i should be) and 2 it is amsoil signature so I am hoping to get at least 10k hopefully 12.5k out of the change.

these engines are easy on oil

Easy on oil? What about the oil consumption thread? I dont think I needed my first couple changes for SEVERAL thousand miles, but every time after that its been rough.

Maybe its the Mobil 1..?

Try a different brand, can't hurt. M1 is hit or miss depending on which viscosity

Yes, easy on oil. Not going to bring the other thread into this discussion, but the fb20 does not operate in the ranges that are hard on oil.
