4 bar omnipower tuning, fixing high idle

Have an 04 WRX. On SD tune.


With stock map it idles fine. But only reads 22boost max accurately. I run 24-25.

I got an omnipower but have high idle issues, Cobb stated omni power has these issues but aem doesn't.

My question is, will setting the offset or adjusting voltage readings fix this? I heard it requires a lower voltage than stock for idle.

Any input? I don't feel like throwing my new sensor in the trash and buying a new aem sensor.

Manipulating the mulitplier/offset is going to change the actual boost reading used by the ECU - that needs to be accurate for the SD tune so not something you want to mess with. We only last week verified this issue with the Omni MAP Sensor and the 2.0L ECU. We've seen sporadic reports in the forums in the past with different tuning solutions but no real concrete data. Recently, a protuner brought this issue to our attention. We installed the Omni sensor on our 02 WRX and were able to duplicate the high/creeping idle, even on the non-SD factory ROM. At this point, we have not spent any time narrowing down the cause. We also do not know if this is only some of the installs with this sensor or all of them. We have seen a few cases where this sensor had some more erratic MAP reading than others (with 2.5L cars, but without the creeping idle). Only a guess at this point, however, as to whether that is the problem or not. You can try manipulating the "MAP Determination Averating Window MAP Delta Thresholds (RPM Low)" table to see if that helps. Change the values to -1.00 psi / 1.00 psi, for example, will result in less erratic changes in MAP in the lower RPM range. But, we will need to set aside some time to work on this issue to determine exactly what the cause is and see if there's the possibility of a tuning solution or hack that will mitigate it. We have not seen the issue with the AEM MAP sensor at all, nor have we found any mention of a problem with that sensor.

I see, I believe I'll use the stock sensor for a few weeks then. Ill see if I'm able to get funds for a aem.

Is this an issue that can be a cause for return? A "manufacturer defect?"

We don't know what the cause of the issue is yet. It may just be that this sensor is noisier than average - something that the idle logic for the 2.0L ECU doesn't like. That doesn't mean its defective - it may work just fine on some other vehicle. But, we can't really say for sure until we can set aside time to dig into this. We might be able to come up with a way to mitigate/reduce the problem depending on what the problem actually is.

Ok, let me know if you ever find a solution then. Because I'd rather not throw away money by buying an AEM sensor when my sensor is perfectly fine..
