Default Strange problem

I opened my hood over the weekend to notice that part if the mat under the hood was worn away and I had yellow fuzz balls on and around my engine. It looks like something was rubbing against it, but I can't see what that would have been (I have no engine mods, and the mat does not appear to be loose or drooping). I plan on getting the mat replaced, but has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas as to the cause? (I did search but came up empty).

Maybe some critter was chewing on it to use it for nesting materials?

Wink strange problem RE

My sister just went to have her oil changed and when the guys pulled out the air filter they started laughing. Seems that there was foam rubber poked in each of the folds and a wad on top. A mouse had gotten in and tried to make a nest. So it is not unheard of. that is more than likely your problem. Take it easy
