Good god wheels is still alive. Did you sell your red bugeye? Can't help with the lawyer, except to say forget the cheap part. They can pay now (lawyer) or pay later (insurance and misery).

I've heard from sources (drivers ed i think) a first DWI can be expected to cost $10k+ after all is said and done. Sorry can't help more. Best of luck.

That's if you hire an expensive lawyer to fight your case which you are most likely going to lose anyway, so there is very little point to go that route.

Just the act of hiring a lawyer will not get you off the hook, or reduce the charges in any way unless there is an issue with the evidence.

Unless this DUI is attached to an accident with injuries or something that will have some major repercussions, I'd skip the high priced lawyer. Go with a public defender if you want a lawyer to walk you through the process.

If this were me, I'd go with no lawyer or public defender and plead guilty, take ?6 month? suspension, pay $500-$1000 fine, take DUI class ($150ish), 100 hours community service, and your insurance rates will barely go up.

And then stop drinking and driving.

That and fines, license fees, the overall cost from increase in insurance, court fees, and yes, legal fees. It adds up.

Not me but my father was pulled over on Christmas Day after a party. He ran a red light trying to follow me back onto the highway. Brookline police pulled him over. ( not sure if you know Brookline but they will pull you over for anything and everything. I avoid that town like as if it has Ebola), anyways he has a limp from a bad motorcycle accident, and could not walk straight at the time. He is also Japanese and could not recite the alphabet backwards. ( I'm born here and I don't think I can either). He was not given the breathalyzer because the officer hauled his ass so fast. He only had a drink or 2 or whatever.

He even admitted to having a couple drinks to the officer.

He used his lawyer. After almost 2 years of court hearing, BS and 10k he was found NOT guilty.

Mind you his lawyer was sentenced during this time with involvement with the Boston Mob. But his firm was still able to work well and got him off.

Unless you have a good case I don't think a big d!ck lawyer can help you.

The look on the officer's face was PRICELESS. Best 10k my father invested in.

Sorry for the story.
