Troof. Went to look at one at the dealer thinking its a possible replacement.

Initial impressions

1) slow
2) way small. Feels like miata size
3) not in the same class as an sti
4) then tried to figured how to mod a NA motor to be faster under 1500 bucks

I don't think they are selling as good as they were suppose to be. Although price point it pretty good.

I'm game for a new place

There's an UNO in the Woburn mall that we've never been to

It's near 95/93, and if we park behind the mall there's more than enough room

I'd be game for a non-chain as well. I just don't know any that aren't NORTH shore

Gomes, you need a ride? :-p

To answer your $1,500 question
E85 + tune + downpipe = kinda fast for an NA car

I miss my turbocharged torque every time I put my foot down, but the handling is just so unreal. I think I had "more fun" in my WRX than in my FR-S, but I feel the FR-S has made/continues to make me a better driver in the way the WRX could never have done

Plus it's fun to see the look on Bobs (is he still around or did his hatch blow up? Haha) face when he can't keep up in the twisties

The car is merely an extension of the driver. Andrew you are correct grasshopper the frs/brz will make you a better driver when you get to the limit. The sti's limit just happens to be out of reach for the frs.

FI options for the brz and frs are becoming readily available.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the car then..

The BRZ and FRS could essentially be faster cars than STi's and EVO's, just dependent on the driver. And the BRZ/FRS will most definitely teach drivers about car control over time and from doing autocross/track events.

Aren't they suppose to buy back your car if the same problem occurs over 3 times?

Never going down that road again, boosting a car that isn't suppose to be boosted out the factory. You thought blowing a STi that's made for boost is easy.. wait till you get into a car with a n/a boxer that wasn't suppose to run boost, stock. $3-5k into it for boost, with risk of engine build down the road. Make sure you love the car or it's time to consider buying a better platform. This kinda goes to modding any car, but boosting a non boost car is just a big no no imo unless you have a decent car proven to take boost fine.

brz and sti's are all different in driver needs.

brz is in the same class as a enthusiastic miata driver, handles great for rwd. pretty sexy looking for a subaru/scion. o **** for winter. and need powah

sti's are in the same class as evos. awesome sports car with a jeep go-anywhere attitude. feel of AWD turbo is sex. proven competitive racing history. blows up regularly. definitely not going to win any car shows or get "street cred" for a subaru.

You sure about that? I'd be raising holy hell with SOA about this car, Brad... It's still under warranty, and it's been fixed more than once... Hell - get an attorney.. You definitely have a lemon.

or, buy a BRZ and drop a turbocharged engine into it.. Probably the same amount of money as an STI.. lol

Never mind I just pulled the fuel pump fuse. It is official! #4 = 60psi. 3 = 130psi. 2 = 120 psi and 1 is a nice 150 psi. Poopie pants!

I'm in for Unos this time, maybe Jamies suggestion will be good for next north shore, when it has been open for a month and everything is set with them.

Bring the car to another dealer. I don't know why they didn't replaced the motor to begin with. We hardly ever replace just a piston in these motors, it's safer to do a block. Sometimes a block, turbo, oil pump, pan, etc depending on the amount of metal scraps in the oil. I'm not saying bring it to Planet, but just somewhere else.

Who is this guy? There once was a guy (or 2) named Bob who used to show up at the meets. It can't be the one I'm thinking of because there is no way he could "pounce" on the FRS. The one I'm thinking of smoked his clutch and has the same POS STi, waiting to blow the motor, as mine. Part of his previous statement leads me to believe it's him, "lurking in the shadows". Now that's the Bob I know and love!
