Default 08 impreza OBS exhaust questions. and "BAD" MPG

EHAUST:hey guys i have an 08 OBS and i am trying to make it cooler so i was looking into an exhaust but i dont know where to start i have searched threads and tried ebay but they are all different. some are straight all the way back some include that huge bend in it right by the rear of the car... so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great thanks !

MPG: i appear to be getting " bad " MPG i am running just regular unleaded gas and i have tried premium but i get around 18.9 city MPG and i do not know why... is this bad could their be problems? i keep up on maintenece like air filter... oil... ect.

A simply wallet friendly exhaust is what I went with for my 2008 impreza sport hatchback.
this is what it sounded like right after I installed it. It did gain a bit more volume and low end when broken in.

It is an OBX catback and can be had for ~$300 to your door. it is 2.5" piping and includes a decent sized resonator. I can tell you that there is no highway drone (i.e. the engine is under constant light load). You will see members who have gone with the likes of a 3" exhaust at the cost of low end power. to avoid any losses stick to 2.5" or less.

Just cat-back:

Or if you wanted to spend a bit more you can get a rallisport racing header to pair with it. which is the exact route I took.
header link: http://rallisportracing.com
and that sounds like this

Cat-back + uel header:

(there are a few other videos I have of the unequal length header on my channel as well)

For the poor mpg, that is doe to a number a reasons, firstly the colder temperatures, the additives put into fuel to prevent freezing, etc. everyone experiences this.

I got mine from ebay, as it is the same price as any online distributor, but with the buyer protection. The cat-back comes with all bolts and gaskets required as a nice bonus.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

Here is the link to my log/journal where i have some pictures of when I installed it:
http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/f...08-2-5i-2.html

I think it's in a members only area? if it is join up, its worth it

if you have any questions at all I'm here to help

MPG - noone can tell if it's 'good' or 'bad' without knowing the exact manner in which you drove over the life of a tank. Each stop, red light, traffic, cold start, and acceleration increase your mpg. 19 isn't outrageous for "city" driving.
