How these people drive around all the damn time with the rears on is beyond me.

My old Volvo had a dedicated switch for the rear fogs. Way better solution I think.
on mine there's a button above the radio. well two buttons actually, one turns on the front's only, and the other turns on front/rear. So if someone is tailing you it feels very bondish to reach over, push a button, and then see the car behind back off 50 ft automatically.

Here's a closer up pic of my foglight installed. From a few feet away it looks great, up close the silicone I used around the edge of the cutout looks a little rough. I plan to try to clean it up a bit.

Also, when wiring the light up I used a male/female connector I found at Pepboys so I can disconnect the light if I need to remove the bumper.

I bet a small rubber strip around that would provide a great looking frame for the light.

I found this thread very interesting and thats a pretty cool idea, I never thought of a rear fog light.. I know this is off subject but is there a difference in body between 08+ Sti hatches?

08+ STI hatches and 11+ WRX hatches all have the same rear bumper.

Looks good wirthless, any night pics with it lit up?

I just ordered this from ebay and Ill do a write up on it, should be pretty be pretty straight forward:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140899894960
Its all red and Im going to tint it , but they also make them clear as well

1st remove your outsude taillight using a big Phillips head screwdrivier, electrical tape, grab some extra speaker wire along with (2) wire taps, (2) zip ties and (2) but connecters for the wire. You will need the but connecters so extend the ligth wires to reach the taillight harness, and the ire taps to tap into the Green(power wire) and Black(ground) of the 194 bulb connection in the taillight harness. the zip tires are to secure the wires to anything you see fitting to hold the wires in place so there isnt any issues in the future, same as the electrical tape, make sure you wrap all 4 connections to insure that no moisture gets into your wiring.

So I Started by measing the rear section which on the top side is 4", So I cleaned off:

And I was undecided to run the light i bought Horizontally bc it just flowed better in my eyes light the 2 rear reflectors:

I measured for the center bolt whole to be 2" centered and about 3/4" down from the center point:

Then i drilled 2 holes, one for the wiring(3 wires) and one for the center mounting bolt:

I had some extra double sided tape from one of my old Hid ballasts so I trimmed it to fit:

Then I extended the wires with some extra speaker wire I had lying around and cripped and taped them up with electrical tape, for the power I tapped into the 194 bulb on the passenger outside taillight. You can use either the driverside or passanger side.

There are 3 wires that came with my light, Blue(dimmer lighting), Red (brighter lighting), and black for ground, I selected to use the dimmer light(I liked it for my application, its up to you for your application)
I then tightned down the 10mm bolt and washer that it came with, then tested it out off and on, I just did it so I dont have a night shot yet but I will add some when it gets darker out.
ON:

There you go Ladies and Gents, its not too difficult.. But it is a nice simple exterior mod !!
So glad I did it , just need to take some pix at night and I'm also planning on tinting the light so it won't look like its there during the day , and mainly see it night

I chose to go with red to make it look oem and not too aftermarket and if you want more light you can hook up the red wire (brighter) vs choosing the blue wire (more dim) . They do sell the same setup with a white lense , just wasn't what I personally was looming for

Gotcha. That's cool too. I'd like white because I have (no too) tinted windows but sometimes it's dicey. I might get a more intense reverse bulb or two instead. It's winter here in Michigan so I will add it to the spring list!

Agreed. I like the shape of this light more but it is bulky and can't really stick on the exterior of the bumper. Wonder if they have that shape but thinner?
