Default Garage floor coating + painted Subaru logo?

So I just bought a house with a big arse garage and now I can actually make changes to something I don't have to worry about removing in a year. I want to do an epoxy floor coating and either A. Have a tattoo artist friend sketch and paint "SUBARU" on it or B. Do a standard Subaru logo printed large scale and trace/paint. I'm just not sure what the best method would be in order to protect the paint (if paint at all, maybe another type of epoxy or something??) and I also just wanted to see if you guys had any other rad ideas to throw down! I'm just stoked to finally have my own garage so idk maybe this is retarded but eff it I don't care lol

Floor coating like this I think would look best!

Ask your local Lowe's representative. Do we look like paint specialists?

Seriously though, I actually don't think the Lowes rep would be able to advise me on whether or not to paint a Subaru logo on the floor.. He might drive an Evo, in which case he would recommend me to a place where Subaru people are... Oh no way, that's where I am??? Weird.

Just give a nice covering, don't put a subaru logo. That's incredibly fanboy-ish and who knows in two years you might sell the subaru for something else.

I think the Subaru logo is a cool idea, I might actually steal that, I'm sealing my floor this spring, it'd look a lot better than some random flakes thrown out.

The flakes are for texture.

I would not paint an emblem on the floor. It will wear off very quickly and look like complete crap.

The lowes guy could tell you what to coat the paint with to protect it.

Instead of a giant ass logo on the floor that you'll regret if you sell the Subie, get a banner/flag with the logo on it and hang it on the wall. Way easier and cheaper too:

Yeah that's a much better idea than painting the emblem on your floor.

As an enthusiast, if I were looking at a house and it had a Subaru logo painted on the garage floor I'd want enough money off the house to remove it, or I'd look at another house.

Because painting is hard? Painting is what everyone does when they first move into a place.

haha I love the debate over this.. Whether I sell the car OR the house, it's definitely not the end of the world to remove it! Like Girion 47 said, painting isn't hard LOL.

I would say sure no problem, instead of $400,000 I can do $399,980!

This is done by first laying the epoxy, then using a cut vinyl from a graphics shop over the cured floor, then clearing over it. Ucoatit has directions for this exact thing. If you ever wanted to remove it, you'd likely have to use tools to peel the vinyl up, then sand and recoat, but its your house and your there for the long run who cares. Your floor will need redone in the future anyway. I would think a 4 foot wide graphic on quality 3M vinyl would add less than $200 to the project, but you may have to search to find a shop to cut a trademarked logo.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not worried about removal at all.. there are ways to do it but this seems to make the most sense to me. Plus garage floors aren't supposed to be perfect anyway. idk about everyone else but every garage I have ever been in (residential) had cracks, dings, dents, scrapes, stains, yada yada... I'll look into the Ucoatit, thanks!

Asking what to coat paint with seems off topic, especially since that was the focused question.

Besides, OT is always more fun when it comes to threads like this.

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe using a trademarked or copyrighted logo for personal enjoyment on your property is not illegal, as long as you don't make a financial gain or use it as a means of gaining other valuable assets. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Plus I just don't give a hoot anyway. I don't have any Subaru executive meetings in my garage coming up any time soon.

I say go for it. It's always nice to do something that you can enjoy and say you did it as long as it looks professional. Living in a family where we have done all our own projects to our homes like finishing our bare basement and some other pretty big things it would not be hard to change it up when the time comes.

Personally I think the logo would suffice as a drawing could look a little cheesy. Also the typical checkered pattern looks great. I remember growing up a friend who's dad had a very impressive car collection had all his garage floors done like that and it was great looking. Plus you can throw a banner on the wall with the checkered floor.
