Default WinterX at NHMS this Sunday, Jan. 27

If you like winter hooning with a purpose join us this Sunday at NHMS for our first of two WinterX events.

We'll be running a loose event that offers plenty of chances for people to get sideways and see how their cars can handle when the going gets slick. We'll change the course at lunch too, so there will be plenty of variety.

Oh yeah, we'll be running full timing equipment so you can see where you improved!

$40 for members, $50 for non-members. Membership is $20 so it pays off quickly if you're going to join us for WinterX, AutoX or Hillclimbs this year.

Register online here: SCCNH WinterX

This event will be held in the S3 lot, so it's smoooooooooth.

For more information check us out here: http://sccnh.org/autocross.html

I will be there! This event is so fun.

Here's a video from one of my runs last year.

I'm hoping to make a slightly longer course this year, depending on conditions. Last year we had a massive puddle of ice that created some liabilities.

Can we rent safety equipment there? (Helmets, ect) sorry if that's a noob question, I've never been to one. And I'm trying to participate in this one!

We have loaner helmets available.

Forgot to note: NO STUDDED TIRES. The track is very protective of its pavement and they've been pretty gracious to let us hold these winter events.

Is it on pavement or on dirt?

Also, do drivers have to work the course?

This event is in the S3 parking lot, so it's all paved.

Like a normal autocross, racers will have to work the course, but we rarely have cones getting hit at these events.

You work with what you've got. Even with a decent snowpack it doesn't take long for a wet/dry line to form, especially in the corners. This can make for some interesting transitions from sliding to gripping, probably not the place to use an expensive set of snows.

ADSI is thinking of doing an event in RI on Sunday, and if you've got a real need for speed come on out to NY and run with AMEC on the lake. Cheap, little to no working and the most sideways action you're going to find. www.icerace.com

Last year we had much less snow than we've already had this year, and there was no pavement showing. I doubt there will be any problem with snow.

I'm planning on going to the Feb. event now that I'm aware of this. Would it be a waste to bring a car with all seasons? I would love to drive my Impreza but after seeing that course video I'm thinking my forester with snows would be the better choice.

Lol, at the awd class. All Subies! I'm 50/50 on attending this, need to represent Audi!
I would be doing this on all seasons also, unless I took the miata.

No matter what tires you run you'll have a big grin on your face.

Quick question, I've never run an event with SCCNH before so i'm not sure. Are there loaner helmets? My friend does not have one and will be riding in my car for the event.

I believe it's happening either way this Sunday the 24th. Hopefully Dave will chime in.

You must be registered and teched by 9, most will be there by 8 or 8:30. Running will probably start around 9:30-10. There will be a lunch break, and then an afternoon session.
