Angry Hole in the road cost me 2 new tires!!

So it's late at night and I'm cruising down Western Ave in Los Angeles toward Hollywood when all of a sudden...

THUMP-THUMP!!

I drove over a hole, a big hole, I think technically it was still a hole even though it felt more like a chasm.

I continue the drive to my destination, all feels OK with the car (WRX Wagon) so I think I got away with it.

A few days later (I didn't drive my car for a while) I notice a bubble on the front tire

Doh! it definitely needs replacing, so next morning I drop the car off at Stokes in Santa Monica (great service) and am prepared to buy a new tire. Not so lucky - the tech notices a similar bubble in the rear tire too (same place, same damage) that's 2 new tires from one hole.

If it was the crappy RE92s I wouldn't have minded but I'd already swapped them for my 17" OZs with Pirelli 7000 SuperSport rubber.

What a pain in the ass! Hollywood don't maintain their roads and it costs me $350. Luckily the wheels are OK, I could easily have lost both of them too.

- Richard.

I remember exactly - heading North on Western just North of Venice. I should try and get them to pay, I know if that happens in England it's the counties fault.

Chicago also has a pothole damage reimbursement program. I took advantage of it once. Works great.

You got it. Your city probably has a payment plan for potholes or road work without adequate notice(signs).

If not, sue the city for the cost of damages. Its a hassle, but they will pay. Definitely.

DID YOU TAKE EXTENDED WARRENTY ON YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!

If you did you can get replacement tire`s for free on the warrenty. I`m currently doing so with my 2000 legacy. I scuffed them on a curb resulting in wall damage.

Hey I was driving down a road once and hit a curb head on. Causing 4,500 GBP worth of damage to the car. Seems someone had moved a cone alerting someone to the problem. Oh well. Took 3 month but I got paid out on it.

He doesn't have the stock tires, so I doubt the warranty would replace them.

Hey, at least your wheels are ok, right?
