Fine, I'll put it this way. I'd rather be able to drive and enjoy my car however I choose instead of having my ass pucker every time I touch the gas pedal. Fair enough?
I want it to do decent on an autox track and be a good everyday drive with a rugged yet clean look. It's not going to be a strictly racing car. And i totally agree with the butt puckering comment. I've been planning this car for about a year now and I have been researching all the parts I've ordered to see how they will interact with one another and it's out put. Not a fan of 6 speeds, over complicated electronics and paying a bunch of money mostly for 3 letters. The premium with the parts I'm getting fits my budget perfect. But I might reconsider the manifold and see if there's something I can do with the stock one to spruce it up visually or even put in an OEM 06-07 STI manifold if it fits.

Its not just the solid gold price tag....
Never buy a seat until you plop your ass in it first. Take awhile too, sit in the for a half hour or more, your butt will thank you later. If 3400 seats fit you best perhaps its worth it. Wouldnt suck though if it wasn't?

Default Update on Project

So I picked up the car friday evening. Needless to say, I'm super glad I waited to find an available WRB hatch like I wanted. Parts and goodies are on order. Also the timing is great because I'm sure none of the major parts are showing up until I return from my 2 week vacation back home in Jersey which will put me a few miles over the break in period. So it'll be ready for just about all the mods. I'm just going to have to find a good weekend for me to drive up to IAG for the tune and alignment when it's all said and done. Thanks for the support. Pics will be posted soon

I'm not really sure what this thread is about. Or why you are bashing STI's. 6 speeds are fancy electronics or an extra gear with closer ratios?
I wouldn't bother with the manifold either, just get a stock sti one if you don't want the poly one. Can probably find them off 08's for cheap, paint it all fancy.

Either way sounds like a cool build. Post some pics up when it's coming together and congrats on the new car!

To each their own, and it's your money, but...

Spend $3400 on seats, but get BC coilovers?

And another with those wheel specs.

How about just upgrade the brakes and spend the money on some track days? But of course you knew I was going to say that.

Make your own seats to match your car for 3k. Only FIA seats from STATUS are the regular Ring. If you aren't Asian skinny. Don't even think about it. I have a 30" waist and they are SNUG! The seats do have FIA stickers on them (they used to not put stickers on them)

edit: Yes, they are expensive but they are also very nice. I've sat in all the seats at OG racing and in seats you can't find in the states. None of those held a flame to these things less the ASM Recaros. For the money, they are expensive but F* they are nice.

My seats (car is dark silver with orange accents inside [not a subaru])

For that price you can probably have a massage recliner shoved in your car with aqua jets.

finally, someone who makes a grown up, valid argument about the seats! Anyone can all say they are too much and I'm an idiot for getting them but it's nice to see someone have facts and first hand experience.

Do the tires rub? Would look really nice with some flares or a fender pull.

they don't rub as long as I don't have any weight in the rear. then it rubs when I hit dips in the roads or bumps at moderate speed. I'm looking for a good place to get the fenders pulled. Any suggestions for the hampton roads area?
