Engine failure - need a Boston area garage referral

Hi people.

My 02 WRX (manual, stock except Stage 1 clutch) experienced a "major engine failure" yesterday and I need a garage in the Boston area to help me figure out what is wrong and whether to fix it or replace it or part it. The garage I have it at does not feel comfortable doing this (it is at a tech school). Any places you would recommend?

idk if boston motorsports has a garage but they could point you in the right direction if they dont. Ive bought some things from them and have asked them a ton of question great group.

Is the engine definitively dead? Have any tests been run on it? What exactly happened?

If you're looking for a Subaru specialist in Boston, there's not much. I would recommend Speen Street Automotive in Framingham. They do a lot of Subaru work.

I personally would recommend Wicked Innovation, but they're in RI. I had my car towed down there for my engine failure, if that gives you any sense of their ability.

Personally, I got to Vinnie's Autosport in Cambridge for most of my stuff, but this is probably above what he's looking to get into.

I second Wicked Innovation, they just rebuilt my motor! Only shop I can trust will get it done right and in budget.

George at alewife auto in Somerville..he's been down this road with many subarus ..pm me if you want to give him a call.

With DSG in Norwood closing, choices are more limited. You can try Kaizen, they do Subaru but seem more focused on the Nissan GTR support). . http://www.kaizentuning.com/

George and his father Eli at Alewife Automotive provide fantastic service and will not get in over their heads if they don't think they can handle the job. However, I think they can do a lot. George was telling me about putting an STI engine (or maybe it was just turbo parts, either way) in a Forester last time I was there. Also they have done a lot of minor things for me for free. Seriously great guys!

Motive Auto, i drive well over an hour to Motive for all my work because the service is amazing and has a very good reputation amongst MA subaru people

That was my forester..George did all the work And DSG tuned it :-)

They def know subaru's well and you won't beat his prices

DSG installed my downpipe and exhaust. There's a problem with one of the mounting studs. Alewife a good choice to fix it?

Certainly. Tell George, jon with the forester sent you. I've used many mechanics over the years and you won't find a more honest person than George, both with the work he does and the prices he gives.

P.s. I don't work for George or get money promoting his work. I just know its hard to find a quality mechanic
