Default "limp mode" and how can i avoid it

I have a 2008 wrx and i recently put on my cobb intake and iv have my AP for some time trying to learn tuning one step at a time. working on my AFR's but i did a 3rd gear pull today and it tossed my car into "limp mode" and im not sure why i wasnt logging at the time so im not sure where the error occured but was wondering if anyone happened to have the same problems and if there is somewthing i can change so i dont hurt my car.

Depends on what you mean by "limp mode". There's a limp mode when you hit the overboost fuel cut, which will enable the P0244 check engine light. If you have a check engine light, you should definitely read the code (via troubleshooting menu on Accessport). Then there's a limp mode of sorts that disables boost control with excessive knock that drops the dynamic advance multiplier (DAM) below a low threshold. In that case, it does not throw a check engine light.

So you say in your first post you are trying to learn to tune then your last post you say off the shelf.Wich one is it?

If you have no idea what you are doing either take a tuning class or pay somebody to do it for you.Either of those two suggestions will help you keep your car from going into limp mode because you changed something you didn't know what you were doing.

You'll want to use the Accessport's trouble code reader function which can be found in the troubleshooting menu of the Accessport. You want to make sure this is actually the overboosting code (P0244) and not some other code (or combination of codes).

If it is P0244, then you will want to download the low wastegate (LWG) version of your map from the maps section at cobbtuning.com. Then use the Accessport Manager software to transfer the map from your computer to the Accessport. You then want to reflash the map using the "Tune" -> "Change Map" function.
