Default Club Track Day(s) @ Thompson Speedway 6-9-14

Hello.

I am posting this as a separate entity as there are various club days at Thompson, but I will be attending the first on Monday the 9th of June 2014. I can bring more than a few guests, maybe 4+. You don't have to want to even join, as long as you have a car that can pass technical inspection and pay the blacktop fee of 160 dollars.

The event will run from 1pm to 7pm.

I will be there at 1pm (1300hrs), if anyone would like to come by, PM me. Unfortunately I am unable to upload the tech form, so in your PM include the email where you would like me to CC a copy of the tech form.

Happy Track days @ Thompson!

I'm looking forward to this event. I have no idea which car to bring though. I wish I could alternate throughout the day.

I don't really have a summer track car ATM. Hershey, I'll drive one of yours so you can swap.

Bring Sara with another car so you get two. They want to encourage lots of guests this time around.

Can you post up the tech sheet on this as I am unable to upload any files.

Do you know if I can bring two cars and alternate or do I have to pay additional?

If Sara doesn't drive, then I believe the blacktop fee is per person. However, you will still have to have them briefly tech your car, so I am not sure.

However, given it is a new road course (to you and everyone else), wouldn't it be better to focus on the course itself and not the car per se? Just saying IMHO you'd have a better time to take one car to have one less thing to worry about.

So I have attended one of the ADSI days..is this similiar? I was trying to look for some videos to see what it would be like driving on the track as opposed to around cones, but I wasn't sure if I should be looking for AutoX vids for Thomspon or something else.

So excited for this.

Just confirmed the time off this morning. I'll work a half day then head out around 11:30am. So I should get to the track right at 1pm.

To all, don't forget to fill out the tech form Hershey posted, and bring at least a Snell 2005+ certified helmet, if not gloves. I am not sure if they mandate driving gloves or a fire suit, they might just be "highly recommended" but not mandatory in the novice class. And as per Thompson speedway rules, everyone starts out in the "white" group which is sub-novice class.

In other words you could be Brian McInness or a world famous driving school instructor, but if you've never driven this road course before, they always start you out in the lowest class. What happens is they will tell you to wave at certain times or watch for certain things and you'll be quizzed on it so that they are sure you know where the signal stations are. Once you figure out and demonstrate mastery of the rules, the lines, the layout but most importantly the flag stations, then they will upgrade you.

Hopefully there won't be many people because so far not a huge number of subscriptions have come through because there are lots of people who were awaiting the track to be finished before making a decision. So the run groups will likely be small, maybe smaller than they will ever be!

I will try to get there for 1pm (1300) and I have re-arranged my schedule. It will be tight, but if I am not there just say you're my guest as I have already signed up.

Show up at the westernmost entrance. One entrance is where there is this big green building w/ the restaurant, that one is towards the North. Don't go there, you get to ADSI from the "north". This one is the Westernmost entrance you can see from Google Earth, it's right where the big Thompson Speedway sign is. There will be a small office building on the right once you go in and a straight shot into the road course from there.

See y'all then (or at ADSI on 6-1)

Update:

This is it! The road course at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and The Club at TSMP are officially open as of June 9th.

One week from today, June 9th from 1:00PM to 7:00PM we will be holding our first Members’ Day at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

We need to finalize the head count for this event. So, if you plan on attending and have not yet registered, you need to let me know by return email by Thursday June 5th if you will be attending and the number of guests you will be hosting and the car(s) you intend to run.

For those that have already signed up I need you to let me know the car you and your guests will be driving if you have not already done so.

This event is open to all Members and their guests, and to individuals that have made a deposit to join and have not had the opportunity to test drive the track.

The track schedule will be as follows:

Registration and car inspection: 1:00
Drivers’ Meeting: 2:00
Track “hot”: 2:30 to 7:00

Refreshments will be served throughout the day. Dinner will be served starting at 6:00.

Run groups will be determined by the ability level of the drivers entered and the cars you will run.

Remember to have the Annual Tech form completed for your car and to bring proper track driving attire.

Please reference the Rules and Regs for you and your guests. (copy of tech form and Rules attached)

Give me a call or email if you have any questions.

See you at the track.

Lou

Hershey will be posting the rules & regulations shortly.

If you're going, don't forget to email theclub@thompsonspeedway.com with your name, that you're my guest, and what car you are bringing. But make sure a mechanic techs it out!

Yeserday's session was awesome. Enough NASIOC people showed up that they could stick us in all our own run group.

Remember each person that attends as a guest can only attend twice, but I know another NASIOC member that will remain un-named will probably sign up so if he or she wants to offer that would be great as well.

Stay tuned for more Thompson guest track days...

And per Hershey's warning, NO I DON'T WORK FOR THOMPSON SPEEDWAY EITHER!

If joe doesn't giggle he's a nazi.

This was actually a joke from the other night, I had to beat hershey to the punch for the internet points.

Yes, this indeed was exactly Hershey's joke! Thanks for posting, I got a giggle out of it.

But that is not my car...... close enough though!
