Default LIC Motorsports Modified Knuckles

I stopped by the LIC Motorsports shop in Novato yesterday and picked up a much needed upgrade.

These are 05+ STI knuckles modified to fit 04 STi and WRX struts. With these I get the much stronger bolt-in bearing so I can avoid pad knock-back at the racetrack. My car isn't lowered much so the standard kit suits me just fine. I had my hubs modified for a 5x100 bolt pattern so I can keep my current wheels. I was talking to Noah and I belive they can offer that as well (I did not have it done through LIC, I had these from before).

Visit their blog page to find out more about all the different types of modified knuckles they have. Racers will like the geometry corrected units.
LIC Motorsports Modified and Geometry Corrected Knuckles are released | LIC Motorsports

I will keep this thread updated with the install and my thoughts of how well they perform. As long as my brake pads last, then these will be well worth it. Pad knock-back ruins brake pads, and I spend alot of money on brake pads.

I installed these knuckles today. Everything fit like stock and the brakes don't have any knock back.

Drove around today doing some errands. Steering is much sharper and feedback to the steering wheel is increased compared to running the 04 STi knuckles (and bearings). Makes my Q-Rack feel like new again. Tracking through turns is more precise and adding power mid corner doesn't lead to understeering. Highway driving is a little more relaxed because the car isn't wandering as much as before, I don't have to correct the car as much.

Overall I'm happy with the upgrade and hope to be changing bearings less often.

Thanks for the review, I have been watching these for awhile. The only things missing are the built in -1 deg camber and the 5x100 converted hubs. So they said they "might" offer 5x100 converted hubs?

I think LIC Motorsports is on the fence about the 5x100 hub conversion. If you email LIC you could ask if they can do the (5x100) conversion. The more people that ask for them, the more likely that LIC will/can offer the hubs for us 5x100 guys who don't want to swap wheels. I have two sets of Advans in 5x100, and don't want the added cost of swapping to 5x114 rear hubs and 5x114 wheels.

Send LIC an email by filling out the form on the bottom of this link.

How much did it cost to do that. I did the 5x114 swap and with having to get new coilovers wheels n tires brake rotors and pads (for brembos instead of subaru 4pots) cost me over 2K

All of the pricing is available on LIC's website. http://www.licmotorsports.com/store/252%2C246%2C457

The parts I bought from them are:

and

The bearings, hubs, ARP wheel studs and the machine work to have the 5x100 bolt pattern drilled were sorced from outside of LIC Motorsports.

Curious about details on this.....PM?

**v understood, I think I have a good idea where you are coming from. Honestly I will end up converting them myself in the end. I just get curious on cost of other options vs my own time. Thanks.

They came from a vendor I no longer care to support.

Did you email LIC Motorsports about the 5x100 hub conversion? Show some interest and they may add the option.

This is the road I went and drove today, cruised down to the bottom and then did a hill climb up some 2'000'. The upgraded knuckles were awesome and the brakes were always there when I needed them. Gave my diffs a workout around that hairpin (driving back up) and a few others as well.

My application is a 02 WRX. I read this:

Quote:
Requires at min factory Brembos or other aftermarket brakes that fit STi if running 5x114.3 lug pattern, otherwise need the 5x100 kit
Curious... does the 5x100 kit work with FHI 4pots?

My WRX is mostly street driven but I am now in need of something like my 3rd wheel bearing replacment. It's getting old. Adding brembos to the equation would greatly increase the price of doing this!

Per email I responded with earlier today, which I assume was you.

"I have never seen someone do that with the Subaru 4 Pots but there is no reason why it wouldn't work (it will physically bolt up if that’s what you’re asking) but you’d be forced to run our 5x114.3 to 5x100 hub/bearings as well, you couldn't run the OEM 5x114.3 bearings by themselves, you’d need our modified hub/bearing kit."
