Default Dog Nail Scratches on Paint

I keep my dogs outside on a wireless electric fence while my wife and I are at work. When either of us gets home, they get way too excited and jump on our cars and now there are a crapload of scratches on the sides of our cars. We have fortunately been able to get them to stop with the jumping, but that doesn't fix what has already been done. I'd take a picture but right now my car is covered in salt and it probably wouldn't show anything. Anybody ever have to deal with this? Is it just worth it to bring it to a detailer once I'm sure they aren't going to be jumping on the car anymore and see what they can do? Damn furballs, they are lucky they are so cute or they'd get it. Thanks for any advice on this one.

Depends entirely on how deep the scratches are. Run your fingernails backwards gently acrosss the scratches, are they so deep that your nail gets caught in them (this is a VERY rudimentary way to tell the depth of the scratches mind you)? If so, you've got a problem unfortunately. If not, you might be able to have an experienced detailer solve this problem for you with wet-sanding/correcting/polishing.

Any reputable detailer will give you free advice and upon inspecting the issue in person will be able to tell immediately from experience if it is correctible or not.

Good luck to you.
