Hey this is my first post and I'm not positive its posted under the right catigory but here goes. I hope someone can help me out.
I have a 97 legacy that has the 2.2 na engine (sohc) and I was wondering what the easiest plug n play swap would be. I'm wanting to go to the 2.5L possibly sohc. I have done 2.2 to 1.8 and 1.8 to 2.2 swaps easily. I just got lucky. Anyways This legacy is 6th digit "4" if that helps. I DO NOT WANT AN STI SWAP! I am wanting an engine that will match up with my harness. What years and engines are plug and play with my car? Any help is much apperciated!

Nothing is "plug and play" to cars from 96-99 with 2.2 engines. You have to change out the header as well, since the heads are single port. The SOHC 2.5s were MAP which is also not plug and play since you have a MAF.

I did a lot more research on the swap and it turns out that the only thing I have to do is plug the m.a.p. sensor port and use my existing m.a.f. sensor. I would possibly be able to use the injectors however I might have to replace them for the harness to work. I had that problem on my 1.8 to 2.2 swap. Everything else seems to be the same on the legacy 2.5L sohc engines. Any extra input would really help out.
