Default Uel header for the 2.5RS

Spent many hours researching a header for my 2002 2.5RS. Read about the equal length header giving a little more power and the uel header giving the infamous boxster rumble. Well I have faced the fact I have a non turbo non wrx sti motor in my car and dont care. I love that sound so I went with a uel. After researching everyone bitchin about generic uel ebay headers not fitting right, and the people talking about the borla uel headers cracking I decided to buy the uel header off ebay. I read buyers of DNA motoring saying they didnt fit and they spent big money and time having shops cut and re weld the header to fit yadda yadda. Since I weld and can fix **** I didnt really care for the price and ordered the uel off ebay for 125 bucks from speed daddy which ended up to be DNA motoring headers. I did my research and read that the gaskets suck so I picked up felpro gaskets prior to arrival. It arrived today and with a few hours before I was called to go to work I put faith in my ability to install them before I headed to work. Well, UPS dropped them off and I immediatley went to work inpipe installng them. NOT A PROBLEM at all... ya they didnt slip right on but unless you have skinny wimpy ***** muscles and a pee brain they go on quite easy. Bolted them up to the block with the felpro gaskets and used the gasket it came with for the pipe back connection. Put it all together and let it get hot and cranked down the bolts even more at the speed daddy gasket. ALL IS GOOD, the sound is effin awsome and for the price you can not beat the purchase. I am a little worried about the cold rainy water on the streets meeting the hot header and if cracks will occur but for the price two thumbs up. Sounds AWSOME!!!! I also read guys saying NA motors will never have that boxster burrrrbllllll the wrxs and stis have.....BULL****!!! All DAY LONG now!!!!

I also want to say I posted this because I read alot of guys ask questions about these headers and there really isnt a definate answer on quality or where to get a UEL header, how it sounds, how it bolted up, pros and cons ect. Usually its bashing of guys who want to spend very little or bitching from guys who spent alot and cracks happened. Or wrx guys **** talking to the ones that are NA lol. So here is my opinion....SPEED DADDY (DNA MOTORING) uel header, great price, always a gamble on cheap ****, easy to make fit, gaskets suck, sound amazing, and I have no idea how long they will last but if they last over a year I will be happy.....two pairs for cheaper than the BORLA crackin headers lol

You only pay for Borla once. After that they replace the cracked ones, if that happens. I have a lot of miles on 2 sets of borlas on 2 different cars. Only replaced once. What is the warrenty on the ebay?

I'd love to get the UEL headers for my 06 2.5i but I don't have the skills or tools to weld and make them fit if needed and my local exhaust shop apparently doesn't do header installs cause of all the "problems" they have had in the past. And there's no way I'm taking it to meineke or wherever for $300 to install some headers :/ oh well guess I'll stay EL for now.

I also have a DNA UEL Header. All mine needed was a bit of a pull to get onto the other set of studs. The gaskets do suck. (Had a leak right off the bat because of them).

I've put 3000 miles so far and no problems.

Here we go again about opinions lol....I could spend the money on a expensive brand....but why when my money can go towards coilovers, swaybars, wheels and tires, ect. I dont have to even save it was a choice lol and yes I am happy with the purchase. So....my post is for the guy that are in my shoes and want to know if a uel ebay header will make them smile for the money it did me so be it.....right

Then again whats quality? A part that has a good warranty that you have to crawl under the car, take time off work to remove, borrow the wifes car to have replaced? Lol eff that, thats not quality, its hurt your wallet more at the begining and if it cracks will hurt later lol.......

Thats the reason for my post, there has been alot of people posting about that same thing your affraid of, I rolled the dice to see what would happen with the install, ****, i even started it hours before I had to drive the car a hour to work in Seattle, lol. I got them, had better gaskets in hand, muscled them on in 45 minutes, and had a smile when done.

How long was your car down waiting for a replacement header? Just wondering.

Hi guys. Can somebody please help, I'm trying to set up my 05 Impreza RS2.5 (non-turbo) with an 06 STI OEM header.
CAN THIS ACTUALLY BE DONE?
'cuz the lazy as****** at the muffler shop turned me down without even measuring it... something about the up-pipe end being obstructed by some area of the suspension (or chassi).

Thanks in advance.

In my opinion u should already know the answer.... If u used the search, but that aside

The sti flange is in the wrong spot 100% If u want uel headers get the borla knockoffs if money is an issue or get the real borla's. the real ones may have a higher price but they warranty them for cracking, so u only have to buy them once. The only thing sti u can use on an NA is the cat back, but the flanges will need rotated.

In reality u can make anything fit, the question is how mechanically inclined u are. If u were to hack the flange off and mount the headers to the block, u could fab up a piece of pipe to conect. U will have way more bends then necessary and flow would become worse then if u were to go with UELs made for the 05 rs.

Right.. then let me rewrite what I've asked.

HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS WICKED CONVERSION DONE?

The thing is that I already have the STI header (got it for less than $100) and if there's an off chance that it is possible and I don't have to spend another buck..it would be nice

Considering it is highly improbable to do so I wouldn't think so but google is great.... And have u ever thought of jacking the car up or putting it up on ramps, and crawling underneath with the headers to see where they would mount up??? There is no better way to see if somthing would fit then to see for ur self. I have a strong feeling u will have to spend more to do so. I think ur best bet is selling the sti headers and buy ones made for our kind of car, bc u will have to hack the hell out of the sti headers to get them to fit properly

If I'm not mistaken GEE-OTTO did this to his 08 legacy, he had a shop cut the flange off and weld a new one on to meet up with the cat pipe.
