US dealerships are refusing to sell to Canadians, i have tried numerous Subaru dealerships to sell a brand new Wrx to me but so far no success. As soon as i tell them that i'm from Canada they inform me that they cant sell a new Subaru to me. SOA stop this unethical policy against the Canadian buyers. Please let me know if you know a dealership who would sell a new wrx to me. Thanks

Why is it an issue? Do you have to prove residence?

I wanna take the car to Canada and SOA doesn't allow that because Subaru of Canada is loosing a customer who doesn't wanna pay their outrageous price. I just wanna buy a base WRX which you can't even buy in Canada. They only sell a premium and limited edition. Limited edition would cost you over $40k out the door if only 5% tax has been applies.

Did you go into the dealers or just call them?

Retracted.... It appears that if you purchase a US vechicle, there is still a way to get warranty coverage. However, my thinking now is that if you are Financing the vehicle that takes on a whole nother aspect of information i dont have access to.
But if you buy a NEW Subaru in the US, to have any warranty work performed, by a CDN dealer, you would PAY for, then submit the claim yourself to Subaru of America for reimbursement. Last edited by Blktrax; 01-29-2013 at 07:17 AM. |

That's too bad and I feel bad for you in a way, but we in the US have put up with this for 30 years since the grey market got too big. We can buy from a dealer out of the country and when the car is seen coming in by the feds, if they catch it, it goes directly to the crusher.

After all the work and taxes and fees, is it even worth the hassle?

That is a big jump. You aren't really saving much after all the expenses(travel), taxes and registration fees. Why not just save up a bit more and get the car in your area? At least I won't have to drive hours to get the car back which is bad for the break in process.

SOA and Subaru Canada are trying to piss the customers off enough to get Canada to declare war on the US. When the smoke clears, SOA will have a lot more territory to sell their cars in.

Discrimination is a little overblown. A company has every right to protect its interests. If you really don't like it call SOA and SOC head office customer service directly. If you still don't get your way, go buy an Evo.Quote:
