I noticed there hasn't been an updated post about any Local Socal AWD Dyno Shops. Many shops have since closed.
Anyone know of any Local South San Diego AWD Dyno shops with a good rep and skills to back them up? Name of the shop, Website,Tuner name If you have any pricing information and/or stats as far as what they do and what type of Dyno they have (Chasis, Hub/Dynapack etc.) Thanks

Not San Diego, but Cobb Tuning in Fountain Valley, Church Automotive Testing in Long Beach, and Yimi sport way out somewhere in the high desert or something like that. $400-$500 range but give them a call for sure on the prices.
Cobb rotates their tuners through Fountain Valley till they have their new guy trained. You could get a Tim Bailey tune, a Mitch McKee tune, or one of their other top notch tuners. Customer service is great too, any problems with the tune (there shouldn't be) they address them quickly. Same with Church. Yimi I have no personal experience with but my friends car is a stock turbo, stock block E85 and pushes 440wtq and 360whp, very fast, very smooth car. |

Thanks for the responses.
I'm leaning towards something a bit more local with dyna pack. What are the stats on church? I have heard mixed reviews about them and their inaccurate dyno numbers and such. |

Dyno #s are relative. Ask what a stock Subaru would make on the same dyno and go off that.

Church runs a dynapack, which reads higher than standard rolling dynos because they read HP at the hubs. Like mentioned before, start with a baseline and go from there.

Tuning wise ... Church Automotive Testing is great! Yes they do use a dyna pack but I wouldn't be so concerned about numbers and more so how the tune is performed and over all how the vehicle turns out (curve, driveability, reliability, and safe power).
Sean Church has been in the tuning industry for quite some time and has many proven tunes/vehicles & he's super cool. Just my .02 |

I have had Shawn tune 3 of my car's and they have all came out great, if you ever have a issue he does what he has to do to hook you up. I believe Cobb has Mitch most of the time but tim comes down occasonally.
And Paul is out at YIMI, old Harman tuner if i remember correctly. And Steve is out at 7l i know Harry is still waiting for their dyno ill have to hit him up about that tomorrow evening |

I high recommend Shawn Church. I had a previous tune done by Ian at Fsr which drove like crap. He even left some knock at 5400 in 4th gear. Shawn redid the tune & the car no longer had any hesitation. Drove like a dream till the ringland gave up at streets of willow the other week

That we do!

A roller dyno has variables such as: -overall tire size -tire pressure -tire temperature -tire traction -tie down load -vehicle movement basically anything that can distort or absorb the kinetic energy from the car. That being said, tuning technique is the MOST important variable. All of the tuners mentioned here are top notch. Quote:

Don't hear about them tuning many Subaru's so I'm sure there's not much info that can be given on them here |

Tuning Technologies gets mixed reviews from both crowds.. Jenn and Albert are both very knowledgeable. I've had many friends go there.. some with great reviews.. and others with horror stories about not owning up to their own "in-house" custom made turbos and clutches literally blowing up..
They had no problem telling/showing one of my buds in the past how money hungry they are.. |

Alright so anyone know of any AWD dynapacks South of the LA Area? Maybe el cajon or santee or even PB? I'm thinking of buying dyno time and doing it myself cuz 400-550 is a lot for a tune I'm sure I can do myself. -_-
