I would love to have him show me a dyno graph with throttle position also graphed, or even just a data log of a car being driven, where is shows that there is a 1:1 relationship between power output and throttle position.

I really enjoyed the read. But this mention of "tons of lag" is a tad false. Proper gear selection and then "given er tits" will minimize said lag and be easier on your car.

Try going for a ride in or driving any car with a big turbo setup. Then you will see what lag is all about

The point I was making is that the throttle application with an naturally aspirated manual transmission car, assuming you're in the appropiate gear, will result in instantous engine response and will be linear in response to the throttle applied. Even my automatic G35 sedan when left in 2nd at 40mph would result in an instant engine response and a shift snap of the neck as you punch it. Sometimes even spinning the tires.

With a turbo car and from the same situation, there is going to be some level lag therefore the immediate throttle response is somewhat muted and not remotely as violent. It's more of a surge and sometimes that surge is stronger than others. That's the point I was trying to make. So yes, it's turbo lag and I understand what it is. It still just takes some getting use to compared to what a well tuned NA motor can deliver initially on a throttle punch.

Understood?

I'm not one of those nimrods that does a 2,000rpm punch in any gear, especially in high load gears like 3rd+. If I'm punching it from a roll, I either downshift or punch it from ~4000rpm range.

Read again, I didn't own those cars.

Test driving a car for 5 to 10 minutes doesn't even begin to let you understand how the motor operates in all driving situations.

I'm not sure why people aren't taking OP seriously here. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the read.
