Default Subaru Viziv Concept for Geneva Motor Show

There is a fresh report at http://www.themotorreport.com.au/559...neva-unveiling about a new "future generation crossover" concept that Subaru will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The picture from the article, below, looks legit but I can't find any other information about the Viziv.

tribeca replacement?

possibly next gen outback?

maybe the early hybrid tourer concept hinted at the next gen legacy and this is the continuation but hinting at the outback.

front end similarities.

They said it'll trickle down to other models so "possible next gen Outback" seems logical. The only similarities I really see is the grill. The headlights are something completely different and concept-based. It'd be interesting to see that make it over but I doubt it. Probably just another teaser even if it does reference the DRL C from the BRZ and 2014 Foresters.

Actually, it reminds me more of the Advanced Tourer Concept- http://www.netcarshow.com/subaru/201...llpaper_01.htm (I really need to check how to post pictures)

i understand teaser.

but the headlights are shaped similarly if you ignore the bottom half/strip of the headlight.

they must have added that bottom half of the headlight as a design cue they are currently using with all their models.

for example

the brz's led "C strip".

and forester's LED "C strip"

i didn't realize there were two "tourer" concepts. i guess the "advanced" version is just the latest version.

I think that the Advanced version is 2 years newer. Definitely is later though.

"SUBARU VIZIV CONCEPT" represents a direction of new designs and new technologies enhancing the Subaru brand into the future. It is a future-generation crossover concept embodying the brand value of "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind". The "VIZIV" model name is a coined word inspired by the phrase "Vision for Innovation". It expresses a future vision for innovation, and a concept car suggesting the brand's direction.

More Toyota involvement? The first post's link says that it might share a platform with a future Toyota crossover.

We have had rumors that the next Tribeca will be twins with the Highlander for at least a year.

Perhaps it is, but that was just speculation on the author's part.

Guh, I'm sick of the LED face paint. That is sure to be the roll-eyes styling element that dates cars to 2010-2015 in a few year after the fad dies.

The rest of the styling language I'm a big fan of.

Agreed. The LEDs were neat the first time I saw the Audis with them, now the Nissan Sentra, Honda Accords... everyone. Talk about Fad killing.

So you don't like it on the BRZ or Forester XT either?

LED's are not going away anytime soon. Every manufacturer is using or moving to DRL's and LED's provide an easy and efficient solution to this without running underpowered halogens. LED's are making their way into headlight systems now, so this is no "fad". We will be seeing more of it as they become more cost effective.

With this concept out, I wonder if this will be the successor of the Tribeca... (but I want a large minivan to succeed the Tribeca )

But what makes me most curious is if/when Subaru will redesign the EZ engine to the next generation of Subaru 6-cylinder engines and if/when direct injection will be implemented in it.

Also, a next-generation Subaru BOXER turbo diesel that would be clean enough for Cali would be nice

Thanks for sharing!!!

Using LEDs as running lights is about as cool as the BMW Halos. Correct they arent going anywhere, but that doesnt mean they arent a Fad.

Fad: An intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, esp. one that is short-lived; a craze.

http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/fad

I wouldn't call it a fad as it isn't short-lived as you correctly noted LED's aren't going anywhere.

Typically a "fad" will last a relatively short period of time. Sure there is excitement now because they are relatively new but as LEDs integration evolves, it will go from a "fad" to standard equipment across the board.

LED headlights are definitely the future. That is, headlights that look like a single source of light. It's the stylized bling nonsense that will fade. Be gone.

Rest assured, the face tattoo (already questionable) on this Viziv concept will not be a nice solid light bar once the production vehicle debuts, but a ridiculous string of Christmas lights.

The official word is that this is a design excercise. Not a particular model concept.
