Default Western MA Inspection

Will its my least favorite time of year again.......time for an inspection. Unfortunately for me the state of Massachusetts doesn't like any vehicle unless it's bone stock. I just wanted to reach out to see if anyone could help me out. I live in Western MA / Pittsifled area but am willing to travel anywhere in MA to get this done. The car passes OBD II no problem but has the following......invidia turboback exhaust (do have silencer to put in), lowered on ISC coilovers, and is tinted 40% on front windows and 20% on everything else. If anyone is willing to help me out i;d really appreciate it. If so feel free to send me a PM.

If you raise it up I can't see why it wouldn't pass inspection. If obd2 is good, height alright, and your tint is within legal limits Idk whay it wouldn't pass. Unless they're all dinks out there :P

tint is too dark in back. good luck.

we have a family friend who owns a shop and he got ass-raped by the inspection commission (or WTF ever their name is) a few months back. he had to come out some cash in fines.

i hate this state.

ETA: not to be a total dick, but if you're going to do *illegal* mods, you should have already had a shop willing to work with you. Also, i would NOT post the name of the shop on here period.

I thought it was for fronts only? If not, I stand corrected.

it's 35% all around unless it's factory tint or you have a doctor's letter.

ask me how i know.

again, they have really been clamping down in the recent years. i used to have 20% all around on my previous cars and had no issues. unless you were "modded to hell" or driving an obvious rusted out POS you would pass.

nowdays? not so much. IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!

i'm almost nervous of doing my car in August with just a cat-back on!!!! i'm not lowered and my tint is 35%. i'm stage 2, no CEL's, good tires blah blah blah.

Go to a dealership that does inspections. Hourly employees care way less then a small shop owner in my exp.

Well if you're from pittsfield, I would not recommend going to haddads for a sticker in a modified vehicle. That's all.

Word of advice. If you work at or know of a shop that will pass the car...do not post it here, send it via pm.

if its not factory "privacy glass" its illegal under 35% tint. ANY exhaust mod is illegal. altered height depends on the vehicle, and weight classification. obdII can be bypassed with tunes. also, theyve been cracking down on HID conversions...especially the ebay ones where you throw in a bulb and external ballast and go...staties have been yankin cars left and right...basically m*******chusetts is strict....basically what it comes down to is if you get a chill inspector or not...and if its not factory, it gets a big red R.

also...dont go gettin a safety rejection somewhere and then try to get a pass somewhere else (especially within the same month)...the state set up a thing in the computer system where it will go through the whole inspection as normal, and then print out a slip telling you your car has been flagged and has to go to the MAC center to get inspected...at that point, if the second person passed the initial rejections, without them being fixed...he and his shop will get investigated...i know a few where it has happened.

+1 to this. I always go to dealers and usually the one I bought my car from. Most inspectors at dealerships are young as its prob an entry level position with them and aren't as strict with things. As long as they can plug into the obd2 and all is well my cars BARELY even get looked at. I went to small shops around town when younger and always had a problems.
