Default Thumb drive issue.

quick back ground. bought a 32gb PNY flash drive the day after thanksgiving. loaded it up with about 1000 songs. worked great with no problems. suddenly a few days ago i was listening to it in the car, out of the blue it says no file... i was like wtf.

i finally get a chance this morning to plug it up to my computer to see whats going on. to my surprise the flash drive was now empty

anybody have this issue before? the flash drive seems to still be working as i can still copy files on to it. only thing i can think of is the stock radio some how cleared it all off.

just figured i would ask around and see if this is a comon issue with our cars.

I believe that the system doesn't really work too well with anything over a 16gb. I had a 32gb flash drive when I first bought my car and I had a similar problem. It would sometimes work and sometimes wouldn't. I would have to take it out and put it back in for it ot re-read it. It would also delete and the music for some strange reason. So stick to a 16gig and no more problems.

try to format it and limit the size to 15gb. Should still be able to fit 1000 songs easily.

Did you pull the flash drive while it was in use, or insert it when the HU was in USB mode? I'm guessing you did not, but that could have done it.

the thumb drive had been attached to the car for like a month without me taking it out before this happened.

from now on im just going to back everything up incase it happens again. was just a pain to have it happen and was wondering if i was the only one it has happened too.

I haven't had any trouble, but I bought a bunch of cheap 4 gig flash drives and divided my music into categories. I can get the 4 gig drives for just over 2 bucks.

Which HU, regular o Nav? My understanding was that the OEM non-Nav unit can't comprehend/access more than 612 files or something like that.

Same issue for the aftermarket version of the same HU (Clarion CX609).
