I need to have grooves cut into the outer circumference of aluminum tubing to use snap rings in. Life is so unfair.
![]() Specifically, I would like a piece of 3/4" diameter metal rod with a groove for a snap ring at one end. The rod doesn't need to be more than 1-2" in length. I need it for testing purposes, and if it works out then I would like to commission someone to make a small run of a final product. The final product would be 2" in length, 3/4" diameter, and would have 3-4 snap ring grooves at one end, spaced about 3/16" or 1/4" apart. Depending on price, I'd probably want 25-50 of them to start. Final product material would be aluminum or brass.

I could send the material to you if necessary. Specifically, I would like a piece of 3/4" diameter metal rod with a groove for a snap ring at one end. Edit: And the final material would preferably be aluminum or brass.
I will edit the original post to include this information...I wrote that post at 2am and I was. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I could lend a hand. Where are you located? I have access to a machine shop in Marlborough, MA and can surely help you out.

I'm in northeastern CT near UCONN. JonnyV2889 has gotten in contact with me, but if that falls through I'll be sure to give you a message. I don't actually need to be there with you; if it came down to that, I could send you the metal to use or you could buy it and charge me for it. Anyway, I really appreciate the offer!
