It sounds like you made the right choice for your needs.

And the seats all suck!

But I like my 6-spd with "375whp"

I also liked my $34,500 price tag with 8 miles.

If you really want to know the difference between the WRX and the STi, take both to a nice road track. Start running a few laps. Around lap 4 when the brakes, bearings, transmission, or differentials fail and you hit the wall in the WRX, you'll know the difference. There are lots of upgrades on the STi. Larger axles, bigger bearings, larger brakes, nearly bullet proof trans, better differentials, easier to work on/ change wear parts, design...and more.

Agreed on all the STI advantages (tranny, suspension bits and brakes).
But, it's not like a WRX will instantly disintegrate during a simple track day.
The brake situation can be partially addressed with better brake pads and better brake fluid. Stock WRX bearings will survive quite a few track days with proper offset on the wheels and reasonably sized tires, titanium shims from TiC help as well.
A conservative engine tune and higher-than-premium octane gas help minimize stress on the engine and drivetrain. Staying cool and smooth on the controls (steering, brake, clutch and throttle) will also go a loooooonnng way towards keeping the WRX together during track days.
Again, the STI is the better platform, but the WRX does OK during track days. So far, I never had to hold back at the track because of brakes, tranny, bearings or suspension bits.
My only real point of concern has been oil temp and water temp during sizzling hot summer track days. But, even the STI runs into the same issue.
Just my 2 cents on this.

Do we really need redundant threads like this every week or so? I swear it always is a pointless agrument/ pissing contest.

Buy what makes you happy and who gives a **** about anything else.

I have been a member for only a couple months now, and I know I have read at LEAST 10 threads on/similar to this topic.

That's because the search function is terrible. It's impossible to find what you want. Then when you ask the forum everyone jumps on you like "hey noob why didn't you search?" So nobody asks questions. Maybe that's what people want.

Search works only if you know exactly what terms people used before, so it's fine if you kinda remember a thread and want to recall it, but terrible if you are looking for something new.

The search function works great, simply go to Advanced Search and 1. Search titles only 2. Sort by views or number of replies 3. Reference date to see if relative to platform you are looking for 4. Enjoy learning and not wasting anyone's time with a new thread.

Using the above I searched "STi or WRX" and many 50+ reply threads came up regarding the exact topic.

wow
Everyone knows that Subarus don't drop panties regardless of the model.

STi is a race bred car. The first time you shift an STi you can instantly tell a difference in the feel and quality.

I don't own either. I have a Forester XT and a GF.

Not hating on the question, just the pure ignorance of some of the responses.
