Default Which JDM STI clip are OBD2

I'm sure it's in here somewhere but I haven't found it yet. I can get a Ver. 8 complete car for a good price right now and was thinking about swapping the entire thing into a RS. I'm in a OBD2 testing area though. Any help?

OBDII is for US cars only. as stated, certain JDM engines are the same, and can be made to run off an OBDII USDM ECU. that is what you'll have to do to pass in your arear likely.

I can get a 07 USDM STI ECU from a friend of mine, will this work with the Ver. 8? If I need to I could wire in a 16 pin data link.

There's a member here that has done it (Jdm motor on us ecu) you need to change and modify some sensors aswell as put in the USDM cams, why do you want a Jdm motor?

You can run a version 7 or version 8 STi motor on the 02-05 USDM WRX ECU. I used a 02 WRX ECU to get my version 8 swap in my GC to pass the State ref inspection and be able to smog the car in CA. The only thing I had to do was delete the codes for the TGVs with ROM Raider.

There is a guy here stationed at Fallon Air Base that brought his car back from Japan. It has been carefully taken apart. It is a complete car that he shipped back on Uncle Sam's dime. He's being transferred back overseas and told me take $8000 for it. It is a beautiful version 8, just happens to be cut in half. No damage to the complete wiring harness or body panels.

Some USDM scan tool WILL connect, but readiness monitors are not supported. Force Pass readiness monitors (theres an option in romraider), and you cOULD be good to go depending on what scan tool the ref is using. I'd suggest unplugging the air bag module (just in case), hooking a battery up to the clip, open source force pass readiness monitors if you have a cable, and hook up a scan tool and check. Good luck!

I knew that Japan was late to the OBD2 party. Europe was on board earlier. It's the monitors that I worry about. I wasn't sure of the coverage of other nations. I've seen other JDM engines made OBD2. My cousin has a sr20 that was made OBD2. (Had a friend help so don't ask how) everything is possible. I've been reading these threads long enough to know that Uncle Scotty knows what's up, and others have seen to much YouTube!
