I'm sorry but this just irritates the hell out of me. I'll probably regret saying this after posting but you guys are f'ing tools.

If you are honest from the start they will likely treat you with more respect. Because I sure wouldn't respect myself if I tried to pull that crap. Not to mention most dealers know to check this forum.

Just owe up to what you did and have done. Maybe they'll cut you a deal and maybe they won't. You might have a beef with the shop that changed your oil if they did indeed use the wrong weight and you can prove it but your being S1 and driving aggressively with your car is on you.

Even the 5w20... I have a hard time believing that alone would really hurt much short term. Maybe on a full weekend long track event...(maaaybe?) Definitely stupid on the lube shops part, but would that alone spell catastrophe for the motor? IME- very very unlikely...

Something else was at play there. I'm really not accusing the OP of abuse... thats one of hundreds of explanations. Until the motor is torn apart and properly diagnosed, anyone who claims they can say what happened is full of it. This would include myself. :-)

yeah i just left it in. My friend at Subaru said i shouldn't get voided because that wouldn't cause a blown motor. if anything it was an internal engine component failure due to bad oil which was changed at a certified shop.

A Subaru tech told him it wouldn't void his warranty...

I don't think "modded" had anything to do with his "blowin it up"..
