Hey guys. I just picked up a 2013 WRX Hatch in SWP on Saturday 2/9/13 with 3,940 miles. I was going to place an order for a new one, but happened to come across one with low miles, spec'd out the exact way I was going to order it. Figured it was a no brainer since I didn't have to wait to order! The car is a blast to drive. Absolutely love the car and really happy I picked one up. Came from a 2004 BMW e46 M3, so it was definitely a change, but I have no regrets at all. I always loved the WRX and always said I would own one at one point. Simple, practical, good looking, and fun. Doesn't get much better than that.
For anyone interested, here is my build journal of my past m3: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=303023 Picking up! http://imgur.com/H3ORdQr http://imgur.com/Ah1utct On the 3.5 hour drive home http://imgur.com/6vhs6J9 Home! http://imgur.com/ucDpttl Current Mod List Performance - STI Shift Kit - Greddy SP Elite Catback Exhaust and Torque Performance Bushings (Video) - Cobb Accessport - Torqued Performance Stage 1 SF 93 Tune - Kartboy SSK - Eibach Sways/Kartboy Endlinks and Spacers/Whiteline Support Brace (just running rear sways now) - Whiteline Adjustable Endlinks (just running rear endlinks now) - Nameless 5" Muffler Catback (1, 2 , Video) - Feal 441 Coilovers (1, 2) - Cobb SF Intake w/ Airbox (Black) - Subaru 4 Pot Calipers - Red (1,2) - StopTech Street Performance Brake Pads - SPC Rear LCA's (1, 2) - Turbosmart Kompact BPV - Mishimoto Throttle Body Hose - Black - Perrin Pitch Stop Mount - GTWorx/Bilstein Struts with RCE Black Springs - Nameless Muffler Delete Catback Exterior - 30% Tint - Rally Armor Mud Flaps - Blacked out WRX Side Badges - Debadged - Rear Fenders Rolled - JNA CS Style Front Lip - Perrin 3" Stubby Antenna - OEM roof rack w/ Inno Fairing - Thule snowboard/ski attachment - HT Auto Rear Spats - HPT CS Style Side Skirt Extensions Interior - Hardwired V1 w/ Invisicord - 3M DiNoc Wrapped Trim - CM635U1 Head Unit w/ 4.3" Screen - Anarchy Motive Shift Knob - OEM All Weather Mats and Rear Cargo Mat - Proto Tool Cobb AP Holder - GT Spec Steering Wheel - Red Stitch - OEM STI Leather Red Stitched Arm Rest - Valentine 1 Radar Mirror Mount - Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH w/ accessories - Solid Modification Vent Gauge Pod (1, 2) - Defi Red Racer 52mm Boost Gauge (PSi) (1, 2) - OEM Seat Mod - Overland Designs Black Alcantara/Red Stitch Shift and E-brake boots - Overland Designs Black Alcantara/Red Stitch Gauge Cluster - Cobb Shift Knob (red/black) Wheels - Rays Gram Lights 57Xtreme Matte Graphite 18x9.5 et40 (1) - Michelin A/S 3 265/35/18 - Muteki SR35 Black Lugs and Locks - Muteki SR48 Neochrome Lugs and Locks - Wedsport TC105n Gunmetal 18x9.5 et35 (1,2,3,4) - BF Goodrich G Force Comp 2 255/35/18 - Enkei NT03+M Satin Black 18x9.5 et40(1, 2) - Michelin Pilot Super Sports 265/35/18 - Enkei RPF1 Gold 18x9.5 et38 (1, 2) - Enkei NT03 SBC 18x9.5 et40 - Muteki SR48 Open Ended Black Lugs(1, 2) - Muteki SR48 Open Ended Lock Lugs - OEM 17 WRX Wheels - Continental DWS All Season 235/45/17 Lighting - OEM STI Projectors with clear TSXR Lenses, OEM Matsu****a ballasts, OEM Philips Bulbs + Harness (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) - Yellow DRL/High Beam Bowls - Nokya 2500k DRL Bulbs - Nokya 2500k Fog Bulbs - Lamin-x Red Tail Light Overlay - Cree LED Reverse Light Bulbs - LED License Plate Lights - LED Interior Lights - Lamin-X Yellow Fog/Red 3rd Brake Light Overlay - VLED Front/Rear Blinkers with FastWRX Blinker Module - Bluebatmobile Red Tail Light Overlay - LED Rear Bumper Reflectors Maintenance - Oil change - 06/20/13 - 8,109 miles - Wheel rotation - 08/18/13 - 9,841 - Oil Change - 10/24/13 - 11,939 - Winter Mode - 11/02/13 - 12,260 - Alignment - 03/01/14 - 16,379 - Oil Change - 03/11/14 - 16,663 - Oil Change - 06/14/14 - 20,234 - Oil Change/Tire Rotation - 10/18/14 - 24,043 - Brake Line Recall at World Subaru - 25,030 - 11/8/14 Future Plans: - Brembo's - Black Pillars/Headliner Current Look:

Very excited to see what you will do with this platform! I bet there will be tons to be done since the mods are more plentiful/cheaper.
Enjoy it Chris! |

What's being done: Nokya 2500k DRL and Fog Bulbs Mileage: 4,259 I always love the look of yellow lights on my cars. It must be the JDM in me, but I always enjoyed yellow bulbs in the fogs or DRL. It brought a whole other edge to the car and would always catch my eye on other cars. Not to mention how much better the human eye can depict yellows as opposed to whites. I had a set of the Nokya 9006 fog bulbs from my M3 laying around. I was very happy with them, so I decided to stick to the same brand and get the 9005 size in the same bulbs for the DRL. Popped everything in tonight. Very easy to access! With my past car, it was so hard to shove your hand into the engine bay since it was so packed. The WRX has plenty of room to work in. Oh, I managed to pop one of the black screw clips from the intake snorkle off and it went flying into the air right into the engine bay. No idea where it went, but I am sure it will fall out sooner or later. On that note, anyone know where I can get some spare plastic clips Snapped a few pics as I was putting everything in. Also took a few night time pics as well since I was bored and admiring the car. Going to finally give her a good wash tomorrow after work. She is flithy! Oh, I apologize in advance for look of the garage. Just moved in this past August. Starting my garage project this spring which will consist of painting, proper lighting, and a nice garage floor. Nokya 9006/9005 2500k Bulbs http://imgur.com/QxQCI3P Nokya 9005 on left, Stock on Right http://imgur.com/l5dy8TS What a nice yellow hue they give off in the headlight! (PS. Can't wait to paint that ugly chrome and retro some nice projectors) http://imgur.com/9Pr7l0N 2500k in all it's greatness http://imgur.com/9VNAh9M Fogs on! Way more yellow in person. Looks green in the pic. http://imgur.com/baOiulL Few bonus shots http://imgur.com/kQdiRUR http://imgur.com/ZsSiyn9 http://imgur.com/w5xSdor http://imgur.com/klXiknP What's next: Got the lamin-x red overlay coming in the mail as well as an invisicord so I can hardwire my v1 radar to the mirror. I will update when everything comes in! Thanks for viewing! |

Haha, not too busy! Didn't take long to pop the bulbs in. Although I did search for quite a bit for that damn plastic clip.
I actually didn't get a chance to drive it at night yet with the yellow bulbs. I popped them in, snapped some pics, and put the car back in the garage. It was already 10:30 and I was exhausted. |

^ Congrats! How do you like it? I'm loving it so far. I did a lot of research before I got the car to find what direction I wanted to go, so I am pretty ready to go in terms of how to mod it. Just going to wait a bit and drive it stock for as long as I can (which is pretty hard to do for me haha). My past cars, I started doing things right away and I never got a chance to appreciate the platforms in stock form for too long. Going to try to do my best with this one. Light mods for now, then move into the heavier stuff in the summer.
Goodluck with yours! Looking forward to see where you take it. |

Thanks Alex. Yep! Feal 441's coils and finally getting a set of NT03's that I always wanted haha. Trying to decide to get them in black, silver, or if I can find them, in SBC. They will be mounted up with some Michy PSS's in 265/35. Taking my time, or trying to at least. Wouldn't be able to install until the winter is gone, so I have a month or two before I'd put everything on anyway. Going to start piling up parts soon.

I have heard of those Feal's coilovers before, very nicely priced. Not sure if it's in your budget, but the Racecomp Engineering stuff are awesome from my limited experience. Back in undergrad during my autocross days, I knew a guy who was VERY competitive in autocross and he had Racecomp Engineering spec'd KWs for his WRX. They rode very nice on the street and were killer around the cones. |

My number one choice is SBC, but they are hard to come by, let alone in 5x100. Hopefully something will come up. It should look good once I get everything set up.
Yeah the Feal's have been getting some great feedback. They seem to be just what I am looking for. Kind of similar to the KW V2's I had on the M. Comfortable, yet still gave you that great feeling on turns and twisties. I'll have to check them out. My main priority is keeping this car streetable. With the M, I brought it to a point where I didn't like driving it anywhere but smooth highways. I don't do a lot of highway driving since work is only a 10 minute commute through back roads. I just want something that is almost as comfortable as stock (little more firm), but be able to hit some back roads on the weekend and have some fun. I don't want to turn it into another track/street car like I did with the M. Having the M set up that was was really fun, but got old quick. More than 90% of the people that had their M's set up the way I did don't daily drive the car and they don't have any clue how tiresome it can be riding on stiff coils and fixed back seats. Granted I went back to a more DD-able setup, it still got to be too much after a while and wanted something that I could drive without feeling like my back just deadlifted 1000 pounds. |

What's being done: Lamin-X Red Tail Light Overlay Mileage: 4,356 The clear tail lights are an eye sore to me and never understand why Subuaru decided to go this route from the factory. Although it was a cool look back in the 90's/early 2000's, it just wasn't something I found appealing, ever. Since I have done numerous tail lights in the past, I knew I could remedy this situation easily with some overlay with lamin-x. Picked up some red overlay from them and arrived about a week later. The install is fairly simple. For anyone trying it the fisrt time, it can get very frustrating. However, since I have worked with this product in the past, I knew how to form it well to the tails. The shape of the tail lights are pretty straight forward, minus the two bumps on the sides of the tails. They require a bit of heating to let the film form to the shape a bit better. Overall, I am happy with the new look. Still a few areas I would like to touch up and fix a bit, but otherwise I am pleased. Definitely updates the look of the rear of the car and makes the car a bit more clean. I decided to keep the all red on the tails and only cut out the reverse lights since I enjoyed that look a little bit more. If I decided to go to the clear turn signals, I can always just cut them out. Anyway, here are a few pictures I managed to take last night during the install. http://imgur.com/fum7fZo http://imgur.com/5UiAiwr http://imgur.com/GFHOSum http://imgur.com/eRAkW42 http://imgur.com/3rE9DK2 http://imgur.com/HEpuDvT http://imgur.com/NA4JgPu http://imgur.com/74ZIeGk Up next: Invisicord for Valentine V1, LED Reverse Light and License Plate Bulbs, Invidia Q300 Catback Exhaust, Feal 441 Coilovers Last edited by ScoobyFreak86; 02-16-2013 at 02:05 PM. |

What's being done: Invisicord for Valentine 1 Radar Mileage: 4,386 In my M3, I had the V1 hardwired. I hate wires everywhere and like to keep everything clean. Always been a fan of the invisicord and knew it was a great way to clean up the interior without having an obnoxious wire hanging down in the middle of the windshield. Shipping was quick! Got it within 3-4 days of ordering. Although, I must say it is a little expensive for a tiny wire ($15). Anyway, install was very straight forward. I had a friend/member (burnurass) assist me through text message of exactly where the wires went. Sent me a picture of his and popped mine right in. Simple, effective, and clean. http://imgur.com/h3xBkB4 http://imgur.com/oH98gw2 http://imgur.com/8HTk6VC http://imgur.com/kBGw3DI Next up: LED Reverse Light and License Plate Bulbs, Invidia Q300 Catback Exhaust and Feal 441 Coilovers |

Surprise visit!
I really like the look after you put on those tail light tints. Gives it some nice pop and contrast against the white. One of the cars I was deciding on before I got the M3 was actually an WRX/STI! Can't wait to read more about your experiences here as well. |

The tail overlay definitely made the rear of the car look water better. I'm really happy I decided to take care of it right away. They are great cars man. Definitely a different feel behind the wheel, but it's a good feeling. Check back here every so often. Ill be staying up to date with everything I do to this car. Excited to get into the bigger mods. |

Hey man really like the tail lights. I bought some of the IAG tail light films but haven't installed them yet. I'm a little scared to screw up. DId you remove the tail lights or leave them in place to install the laminx? Did you use the soap water mix? Hair dryer or heat gun?

Yes, I used water and a small amount of soap. I used a hair drier. Heat guns work well, but tend too get hot to quickly. Using the hair driver on the low setting allows your to heat it up slowly and take your time. Heating things up too fast can cause disformity in the film. Also, once the film is stretched, it will not go back to it's original shape/place. So make sure where you are stretching it, it's where you want it to stretch. I am a huge sound nut. More than likely I will end up changing the exhaust on this car more times than I can count. I had 9 seperate set ups on my M3 haha. I liked the q300 the best as it provided a nice growl and gave it a great boxer engine sound. Although I've heard it to drone a tad, I never minded a little bit of it. We will see though. I really want to get the titanium tip version as I find it goes really well with SWP. |
