My replacement motor is arriving today from Foreign Engines Inc. Ill be installing it this weekend and had a few questions.
1. Should i replace the head gaskets? 2. Anyone have experience with Foreign engines before? 3. Anything i need to look out for as far as install goes?

What year motor, or version if you prefer. Estimated km on said motor?
Check out the ej207 owners thread in the 2.0 liter section. Tons of info in there. Usually people replace the timing belt with the gates kit and spark plugs. They don't usually crack the motor open unless needed. Mine was a super clean and very low km motor. I didn't replace anything but the spark plugs and the idle air control valve since that was bad. I have 10k miles on the swap with quite a few 8500 pulls and no issues so far. ![]() Good luck with the swap. |

Its a 97 ej25d. Estimated milage is 50k miles. I have to change some stuff to comply with emissions. I also purchsed the gasket kit which includes, intake and exhaust, cam seals, crank seal, oil filter, timing belt and valve cover gaskets. Im hopin all goes smooth but I except to run into a snag somewhere cause thats just the nature of the beast. No 8500 pulls in this one though, just a simple daily haha

If you search for "JDM EJ25D" in this forum, the Legacy forum, and the Normally Aspirated Powertrain forum you'll find a number of threads about people using those engines.
A couple examples: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1243518 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1726807 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1749870 As you'll find in those threads, I did not do the head gaskets, but I did all of the seals that you mentioned in the post above. I also used the wiring harness, all the sensors and accessories from my old engine because I knew they were all functioning properly. All in all it should be pretty straightforward. |
