Heya Mav! I didn't realize that was you and neither of us mentioned the forums. I was in the black STi and blue SSM Miata.

I mostly drove the Miata since my MARRS season starts soon and I need the seat time after winter break. I did take out the STi some though as I had a student that couldn't fit in the Miata.

Would certainly like to instruct at the NASA event, but I am crewing for a buddy at the SCCA comp school that weekend. Hope you have fun!

Hey. Yeah...never even mentioned NASIOC. I never saw you out there in the STI, but definitely saw you in the Miata. Looked good!

I won't be at VIR for NASA. I'll be there April 15-16 with Audi Club. And I just signed up for the May 4-5 TrackDaze @ VIR too.

Some video from the SCCA PDX @ Summit Point. Based on the Chase Cam timing function on the video, I was ~1.5sec quicker this year than at the same event last year. Strangely enough, the car was consistently ~2mph slower this year at the end of the main straight. Corner entry speeds at turns 3, 4 and 10 were all 5 or 6mph faster. Unfortunately, corner exit speeds at 3 and 10 were essentially unchanged, I think due to gearing - I'm at the top end of 4th or low in 5th in both cases, so acceleration is not so good.

Nice. Looks good. I suppose you already noticed, but it looks like the g-meter was mounted backwards.

Yeah, I always forget which way I'm supposed to have the DVR box mounted, and I never think to reset the g-sensor just to be sure it's right.

Weather is looking good for Mon/Tues next week @ VIR with the Audi Club. I looked at the extended forecast a couple days ago and it was showing rain, but now it's saying 10% chance and mid-70s. Hopefully that will continue to be the forecast as we get closer.

Yeah. Weather is looking good. Going to cancel the garage reservation (so of course now it's going to rain ).

Also signed up for the June 8-9 TrackDaze @ VIR.

One time I went through turn 9 completely sideways at about 110mph because mav1c was trying to kill me.

Well, OK, maybe it was the failed lateral link that was trying to kill me.

Hey Patrick, that video above, it shows the brake fluttering on acceleration. Is that showing the stability control? Or just signal noise. Seems strange?

Yeah. What fun that was. I made sure to everyone that is was mechanical failure, not driver error.

You'll notice something not quite right in these pics...

Ain't no stability control on a '97. It's just noise. There may be a way to adjust the g threshold that triggers it in Dashware, but I've never checked.

Great weekend at VIR with TrackDaze. Managed to get one of the Villa Studio suites and share with Brad, Delmar, and Colin. Great hanging with you guys! Always better to stay at the track rather than have to shlep into Danville.

Weather was cold/cold and overcast the whole weekend, but on the bright side, it didn't rain. It was good for power, but not great for grip.

Car ran well again. It was nice to have lateral links that stayed in one piece.

According to the Data Tag results, I managed a best time of 2:11:236. I've set a personal goal to dip into the 2:10s, so I'm close.

Student was interesting. He was in a 2008 Toyota Tacoma XRunner. Yes, that's a pickup truck. It had a custom Supercharger kit and made 400+ HP. As you may have guessed, the rear tires pretty much wanted to spin any time throttle was applied. It was quite the challenge, but the student improved a lot and actually did a really good job controlling the wheel spin and being patient with the throttle.

Looking forward to being back at VIR in June with TrackDaze. Who else is going?

Good time this weekend Tim. Thanks for letting me stay in the room. I probably won't do the June VIR, as it's the same weekend as a DH Mountain Bike race at Snowshoe. But we'll see.

I need to get that oil leak diagnosed and fixed before going out to the Track again. At this moment I'm thinking it's just the TMIC gasket, but if that's the case why do I have that much oil in my TMIC, so I'm going to get a AOS installed as well.

TrackMaster recorded my best lap at 2:25 with a top speed of 132. Not bad for a Subaru Outback. I think the car is capable to do a little better, just my driving needs to improve.

I'm planning to, but have a few things I need/want to take of with the car (based on the April trip), so we'll see.
