I'm so lucky to work at a Subaru/VW dealership. Spring of 2014 will be quite fun indeed! New WRX/STi, new GTIs and Rs....nom nom nom!

Yea, my local Subaru/VW/BMW dealership is going to be buying back joyride-totaled cars from angry customers all year hopefully not mine

I certainly wish VW would make a killer Jetta GLI, or a Jetta R.

That would be awesome. the GLI is one FINE looking automobile.

I'm down with it except for the wheels (prefer the current ones) and exhaust. Both can be remedied but let's see what the US version looks like.

Wow that thing is totally boring looking. Why on earth can't vw come up with a good wheel design? They haven't offered an attractive set of wheels for the GTI in years. I wonder how much less power we'll see in the U.S. due to 'lower quality gas'. If they put that new active differential in it this car could be really fun.

So no word on which transmission will make it stateside? I wonder if there is any chance they'll bring both.

Let's be real people, why would they put any other kind of wheel on when they know that there core buyers will be replacing them any way. Yes, the wheels are boring but i dont think it matters much (big picture wise)

Honestly, I just want a Scirocco and a new Microbus. Shooting for the middle tempered compromise is just my nature. Hence my obsession with anything awesome and wagony.

I really love that interior. But truthfully it is not much different than mine. It does have a much nicer navi screen and climate control.

anybody else notice the 7500 rpm redline!!!

Just please make a 6 speed manual in this car, and I am probably sold.

Ditto. Now, I just have to find something to drive until this thing comes out, because my current car (plain Jane 2.5i) is about as entertaining as tax season.

I keep scratching my head and can't understand why VW doesn't bring the Scirocco back to the US.....

It works for me....the clunkiness of the 5 speed keeps things interesting. I'll keep it for a while after the R comes out. I don't want to buy the first year of any car.

It would be hard to go back into more debt for this one over the one I currently have. I do really like the look. Very restrained and executive feeling for a hatch. That is what I love about the Golf R. It is like Clark Kent. Business on the outside, superhero on the inside.

The other analogy I like to make is between the STI and Golf R. The STI is Rocky Balboa, the R is Apollo Creed. In a straight up fight, the STI will win, but the Golf R is more polished and professional. This one looks to carry the same subdued aggression.
Lol. My next custom plate will read ADRIAN! just for you.....

Understated looks = less of a theft and cop magnet.

Looks fine to me. No excitement. A little boring(for what it is), but no less econobox than an Impreza to me(especially because of what it is).

Pffft. Try driving 60 miles a day in a 2009 Forester and talk to me about boring.... ugggggg. As entertaining as using my toaster, but more frustrating. But at least it has been reliable.....

I'd love a Scirocco, too. And I agree, Scraps, this looks good but not particularly different from the prior gen. I could say the same about the GTI as well.

A scirocco would have me seriously rethinking life in general. I have loved those since day one. But honestly, I would love to find one of the orginals. I love the straight lines and the 80's styling.
