And you didn't change your address in paypal why?
I ship to the paypal address. If you want something shipped elsewhere, it relieves me of paypal's protections. If that's what you really want, send me dollar bills in the mail and once received, I'll send you your stuff. |

I believe it doesn't concern just NASIOC but everywhere.
Advice: always ask or pay for confirmation number. I know you said it will show processed but you can call and demand an answer. Happened to me once and it worked. |

I always ask if a buyer pays me through paypal if they want me to send to the address in paypal or different.
But that's just me. |

The problem there is that if you have a scammer on the other end, they say they never got the thing, dispute with paypal and you have no proof that you sent the thing to the address in paypal. You then lose and paypal gives the buyer his money back and he keeps whatever you sent him.

Wow, never thought of that. Though I've never sent to a different address, I've always asked.

Actually I never bitched that it was their fault -- they sent it and provided a tracking number. How else would I be able to track this issue with USPS as I've provided in great detail?
I also explicitly stated that it was my fault for not updating paypal. This thread is provided as information regarding USPS policies following my own failure to update paypal in the hopes that others don't make the same mistake. I had just moved, I didn't think it'd matter -- it does. Lesson learned on my end, hoping to extend that lesson to others to. |

Just think if you spent two minutes updating your paypal address all this could have been avoided. Most sellers will only ship to the paypal address so the seller actually did the right thing here.

This situation is all your fault. USPS doesn't forward package even if you have already put in a request. Actually there're quite a few restrictions on what can and can't be forwarded. And why would you not change your paypal address? 95% of the sellers that deals through paypal will only ship to the shipping address on the account. So sorry to say this but it's your laziness and misinformation that caused you all this problem. And USPS is known to have the worst tracking update. Though I do hope you'll get it sorts out soon.

In the time it took you to write out this important news bulletin about this tragic experience, you could have updated your paypal address and gone about your day.
I've refunded people's money and forced them to resend with the correct address confirmed in paypal. Protection is key |

I run a business via PayPal with approx $40k in transactions last year. I ship to the address listed in PayPal, no ifs ands or buts. If a buyer tells me to ship elsewhere, I tell them no and refund them so they can correct the address and resend the money. My favorite is when a buyer doesn't say anything about a change of address at all and then attempts to pin the fault on me when I ship to a house he hasn't lived in for 4 years. And usually will tell me "I have no idea how you got that address" |

And putting the burden of forwarding onto the USPS for everything you forget to change your address on is probably one of the reasons they can barely manage to stay open. All this extra work you've created for them, and the associated systems and processes they have created is costing them money. By even getting this package to you they're doing you a favor. Consider yourself lucky that you're even getting the package at all. |

I thought this story was going to be "USPS sucks they lost my package because of a forwarded address and I hate them now" but it really was "USPS has a strict procedure to go through for forwarding packages and now I have to wait a few days more to get it"
That's as bad as it gets? If this happened to me I'd just say "oh damn a few more days than I expected" and then go on with my life. And I've dealt with USPS before on the phone regarding tracking...if there is any confusion on the website as far as terminology (only saying 'Forwarded") a simple phone call clears up any confusion in a second. I just don't see why you're so pissed that USPS has their own system for forwarding and it takes a few days longer for you to get your stuff...especially since it all would have been fixed had you updated your PayPal info. |

Too bad the seller didn't use UPS or FedEx. The driver would've just left your package at your old address and you could've avoided all of that USPS forwarding foolishness where your package is ultimately delivered to YOU and not the squatter at your old address.
