Right, he was asking about those of us in the US who watch Sky:

Sky TV with F1 is around 550 pounds per year in the UK. Even though I live there, I'm not paying that much for the one sport I want to watch, since the alternative is free.

I had no idea it was that expensive. If I lived there, I'd watch the BBC coverage if it was on at a reasonable time and covering that race. Otherwise, I'd get the torrents just like the rest of the world.

Am I gonna look stupid wearing my current Mclaren stuff after the Vodafone split? IByoulookstupidanyways

Vodafone and McLaren have confirmed they will end their partnership in Formula One at the end of the year, with the team set to announce a new title sponsor in December.

Telecommunications giant Vodafone has been McLaren's title sponsor since 2007 after it left rivals Ferrari at the end of 2006. The Financial Times broke the news that the agreement will end this year and the team confirmed it in a press release.

"We're immensely proud that, having been set a number of ambitious challenges by Vodafone back in 2007, together we've met or exceeded each and every one," team principal Martin Whitmarsh said. "Our focus is on continuing to drive results for all our partners throughout the 2013 season and we look forward to making a major title partnership announcement towards the end of the year."

Vodafone Group chief commercial officer Morten Lundal said: "Vodafone and McLaren set ourselves highly ambitious goals in 2007. Over the past six years, we've set new standards in sports marketing together, and in doing so have achieved all of those objectives. We look forward to continuing to work together throughout the 2013 season."

Ever since Sergio Perez was announced as a race driver last year there have been rumours that Mexican telecommunications giant Telmex could back the team after its long standing relationship with the driver. However, the team will not make an announcement about its new sponsor until December 2, 2013.
For the record, Vodafone has **** rates for European data plans. Five pounds for 25 MB? Haha no.

BBC covers almost half the races live so they're in a nice Sunday time slot. Every race start time is geared toward European audiences. BBC then airs highlights of all 19 races a little later thatday on a loop for several hours. It's pretty awesome.

Funny picture:

In formula 1, if asked which driver's have the most "swag", you would answer; Kimi, Alonso, Lewis, and Vettel.

I saw this pic on Formula1.com and or course, only driver's rocking boss shades during the picture are these exact driver's!

Alonso looks like he's the title character in Weekend at Bernie's, and Vettel's not even looking at the camera.

So Mclaren are going with the Merc V6 for only one year, then switching to Honda? I know Honda used to dominate this type of engine formula...back in the 80s, but come on. Honda has essentially zero experience in F1 with KERS.

Thing will be very interesting if the Merc powerplant ends up being the one to have next year.

Mclaren wat are u doing? Mclaren. No. STAHP.

and what´s with Renault and Ferrari? BTW, McLaren is the producer of the ECU for the engines, I bet they established a good technology transfer between McLaren and Honda.

Yes they do, but the comparisons between the upcoming F1 Turbo V6 setup and the IndyCar setup pretty much stop at having 6 cylinders and a turbo... Honda have zero experience with KERS and the new thermal energy recovery that's also a part of it. Rest assured, if Mercedes can only get McLaren to commit to 1 year of paying for the new engines, they will do whatever they can to either get out of that contract or protect their intellectual property so that McLaren doesn't just give the goods over to Honda to help them perfect their setup.

Very true statement!

Don't get me wrong, I will definitely be happy to see McLaren and Honda back together (only thing missing is having a senna name on the car), but it will be a Huge gamble to make since Honda has been out for so many years!

McLaren are just on fire with making crazy decisions.
1. Picking Sergio Perez as a driver ( i am happy with this choice just crazy )
2. Sending both driver's out on slick and keeping them out during Melbourne quali
3. Messing up their suspension during testing which now has their car driving like shyt
4. Changing engine supplier to one that has been out of the sport for quite some time!

That's something Ferrari has never had to worry about.

Okay, so the MP4/5 used V10s, the MP4/6 used a V12. So combining the 89/90 wins with the Mugen-Honda wins, and Button's semi-fluke at Hungary, we get 21 wins. Not too shabby.

Aside from Peter Windsor's, is there any decent F1 podcasts/YouTube casts? I'm looking for stuff to listen to in the background at work.

If you have an Android device and don't want to spend >$30 on live timing, I highly recommend Unofficial F1 Live Timing by ProCo Apps.
