Default Aftermarket deck

So I just bought this off nasioc but didn't come with directions and I am no electrician by any means. I try'd researching it a bit but couldn't really find to much. I drive a 02 wrx. Do I need to buy anything else? Can someone give me a quick step by step walkthrough? Would really appreciate. Thanks,

Do you have to have anything more, no. But you are much better off getting a radio harness from your local best buy or mobile electronics store. It will make everything a lot easier and make it so you don't have to hack up your factory wiring harness. Do you have the single din factory radio with another 1 din added piece (tape player, etc), the larger 2 din radio, or a 1 din radio and pocket underneath it?

Sorry Mulder

So after I get the radio harness do I only need to wire it to picture 4 and plug it into picture 3? If so anything else I need to do?

Thanks again

Yes, you will just wire it together (make sure to solder and tape with quality Super33 tape or use shrink tubing). It will use the factory ISO brackets to mount the radio. Depending on what you have for a factory radio will depend on if you need anything else. If the radio did not come with any screws then you will have to get some. The side of the radio should have the size and max length you need.

What do you mean size and max? The radio came with small screws on the sides.

Ok, if it came with the screws then you are fine. The size and max length are important if you did not have the screws already. I've seen too many people try to use whatever screws they have and end up damaging the radio because the screws were too long. But if you already have them then there is no issue.

To be clear: The screws we're talking about are larger-sized ones, used to attach the metal brackets to the side of this head unit (HU) -- not smaller screws that hold the case body together. The correct screws will be similar to the ones that are currently mounting the factory metal brackets to the sides of your factory HU.

The Sony has a model number printed on the front (at the top, looks like starting with CDX...). Go to Sony's web site, search for that same model number, and download their installation instructions (and their user manual, if it's a separate doc). You need to understand the purpose of all of the Sony's wires, so you'll know where to connect each one (or if you should simply insulate the end).
