Default STI engine in WRX wont start

Hello all! Just installed an EJ257 STI engine into my 2002 WRX. I used the WRX harness and ECU, left the AVCS disconnected, swapped over the 2002 WRX TGV's, intake manifold, and Throttle body.

I have fuel, spark, compression (it's a BRAND NEW, ZERO mile engine), and air.. But the engine wont start. I can use starting fluid and it will start for a second or two, but then will immediately die out. If starting fluid isn't used then it will only turn over.

Any ideas, or advice on what could be wrong..?

Found out what happened. The wires were pulled out of the pinout harness that's right behind the battery.

AP2 shows codes for Misfire on 1 and 3, cam position sensor, heat control circuit bank 1.

Any ideas on what the problem is..?

new here, trying to contribute...

From my reading so far, it doesn't seem you flashed the ECU? So in your case I think you pissed off the WRX ECU (cause it still thinks its a 2.0 its trying to run)

the cam position sensor code is why it won't start, 02-05 WRX uses a different style cam position sensor than the STi

The wiring harness was broken, causing the injectors to not have power.

I'm still trying to diagnose a random misfire from a cold start to 180 degrees coolant temp. Once it's 180 degrees it runs fine.
