Default SPT intake: WRX TR 06

I have just installed the SPT intake on my WRX TR 06.

My engine is stock except a Greddy RZ bypass valve in a full recirculating mode and an STI TMIC. The SPT intake installation was so simple. After the installation, my car felt a lil weird, there are moments were the intake was completely silent, other moments where I can hear the turbo spooling clearly. I did an ECU reset and drove my wrx for about 40 miles untill it felt good with this mod. Now the intake sounds nice all time. It is a great quality intake. I am still waiting for the SPT heat shield to prevent the suction of hot air.

we did a dyno on the car and the difference before and after installing the intake was exactly zero. My purpose from the intake was the sound. I know it will not add up any hp so that was expected. my next step is to go for stage 2 with a VF48.

When i had this the heat soak in the summer was terrible (even with the heat shield). It bogged after sitting at a long light. I switched to the stock box and it was much better. Plus the long term fuel trim learning improved.

Yeah, it was fantastic in the winter/spring. When we got hit with that 100F heatwave last summer it SUCKED, but even the stock box wasn't much better at that point.

I reccomend you get the heathshield, and cover the outside of it in Gold reflective heat tape. Also, keep the OEM intake scoop with an elbow.

The biggest problem with these SRIs are the lack of airflow when sitting. At least the stock box is sealed from the engine bay.

Nice install I had the SPT on my old bugeye, I hope you didn't buy it for performance though, I have had multiple Subaru techs tell me it was developed for looks only and can't really produce power gains even with tuning

I used to like this intake until I started logging IATs. It's so bad the heat soak its not even funny. Fine if your moving along but once you stop at a light engine temps rise and you lose timing. I still have it sadly l, wish I had kept stock air box. If you still have stock ill buy it off you lol

Default SPT intake and cat-back exhaust

I bought the same thing for my 2005 STi; with the heat shield in place, I have a good music from the intake, and I love the sound of the SPT exhaust!

I had this on my car and it ran like crap. Changed to a cobb sf w/ box and it runs smoother.
