Default mysterious connector on impreza 09

Hi,
I found this mysterious connector when I removed the spare tire and everything else from the trunk from my impreza 09. What could it be? a stock CD changer connector?

wiring for a hitch? it wouldn't be for a cd changer. The changer option is built into the indash unit.

I think thats the wiring for the optional outboard motor.

just re-checked some wire colors and I'm pretty positive it is for a hitch . . .

Wire colors for the tail lights:

parking lights . . . black/white wire
reverse light . . . brown/yellow
brake . . .red/white or brown/white
turn signal . . . white/red (L) gray (R)

Many of them match the colors that I can spot from the harness

thanks for the info!!!!
If I had known that before, I wouldn't have dismantled all the panels in the trunk to get to the reverse wire when I hooked an electromagnetic parking sensor on the bumper moths ago

I hate to thread necro but I was going through my trunk and found this, except it's plugged into something... it goes to a bunch of electronics that are blocked from view underneath the metal plate above it.

I'm going to try to dig it out at some point and see what it is... but I don't even have a tow hitch

don't worry about it, it's probably the flux capacitor.
