Default Tint Questions

Just wanted to get an idea of what folks are paying for a premium tint job? I was quoted 450.00 by a top of the line tint dedicated company in Richmond Va. That seems high as hell to me but they guarantee it for life and stand by their work. Thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome.

That is high. Gotta be some good stuff they're using. Do you know what brand? I would check with a few other places.
I paid $302 for LLumar Ceramic CTX and it's guaranteed for as long as I own the car. Any fading or failure and it gets replaced free of charge. It would have been $402 if I got the windshield done.

I paid $215 for Suntek Carbon film, all around, no windshield. and about $110 in tickets so far

450 is alot. Id have to imagine its ceramic tint and incl windshield. You could prob find under 200 if youre on a budget.

I paid less than $200 - including 7% sales tax. Guaranteed for the life of ownership. Windshield was not included and tint was the maximum allowed by Nebraska law.

In va windshield isn't legal, however they are going to do a 6" strip I believe. Advanced window tint is the company and they won the east coast tint championship......and the tint they use is madico. Lots of positive feedback on the web just not sure if I can drop that kind of money on a tint job considering I want a new stereo as well.

Technically there are 7 windows that will need tint not including the strip on the windshield on my hatchback. 300 for the back windows and 450 for the entire car doesn't sound that far off.

$450 is too much for me to spend on tint, but if you can afford top of the line go for it. And post pics.

I wish front tint was legal here, even 35, 50%. Retarded NJ.

I paid 170 for Suntek carbon all around no windshield. Lifetime guarantee on the tint and the work. Basically said the tint will last the life of the car and it looks good to me. Does the $$$ they are quoting you include magic?

Haha...no it doesn't. If it did I would have a 2013 WRX Hatch limited.

If you have the time and inclination, try doing it yourself. You can waste 80% of the material and still be ahead financially. You also learn a valuable skill.

I'm tall so trying to maneuver around in the back seat of a compact car isn't exactly feasible. I've struggled in the past with decals so I can only imagine the difficulty tint would present.

I've tinted the windows myself in most of the cars I owed. I went professional tinting this time because I wanted a higher quality film and trying to tint the back window is way more difficult than the side windows because of the tight space and glass is curved. The hatch make access easier but the curve is still there. I can never get it right on the first try.

I've tried, but I've never succeeded in it. I chalked it up to something I'm just no good at. I have helped a friend of mine that owned a vinyl co apply vinyl, and I checkered one of my sport bikes with vinyl and looked great. It's just the tint that scares me. Even using rapid tack and proper squeegee's. Prob a lack of patience.

The rear window on the sedan requires heat shrinking. An extra set of hands also helps.

I've decided not to go with them as they are the most expensive. Instead I'm going to replace both headlights on my tacoma and spend less money in doing so. They are clouded and one is broken and both are discolored from the yellow daytime running lights. Tint can wait for now.

I got a quote for Madico film, lifetime warranty to the orig. owner, film installed all the way to the edges so it does not look like a film install, all 5 widows of sedan plus a front strip: $310

Edit: that is for Madico’s Charcoal

Yikes! Where are you located? Here in Omaha I got lifetime warranty for the sedan at $145. There were a couple small nicks in the trim rubber, but the actual film is flawless save one spec of dust on the back rear window that takes me a minute to find to point out. It's also to the edges, basically looks like the factory tinted glass. $145 was one of the more expensive places in town, but also had pretty much the best reputation, and it was definitely worth it.

I can get it done lot cheaper but this is the only shop within 30 miles using Madico. So all others use something else. It seems that Madico films are much more expensive that most films used. Not all films are made equal. Even not all Medico suppress infrared, I hope I was quoted for the one that does.

Edit: Nope, it was for Madico’s Charcoal

I bought the package through the dealer with tint and clear bra. Seemed like an ok deal. Here's my car so far:

Sorry for the lack of imbedded link. For some reason even the public skydrive links won't do that.

Nice wheels! Painted? Powder coated?

Dress up those tires with something (Mothers, Armor All, etc.) and it'd really look sharp.

Thanks! Believe it or not, it's Navy Blue plasti dip on top of the hubcaps with the stock steelies behind them. The whole car needs a bath bad! We've been going to the lake every weekend and we've been getting thunderstorms almost every afternoon. So, I'm driving dirty interstate during the week and dusty state park roads on the weekend. Plus I need to get a vacuum the interior too now. Last weekend's trip to the lake ended in a thunderstorm and everything had wet sand on it! Time to give my little Subi some love!
