Those look great on there.

I have no other experience with Conti tires except my snows, but they're MUCH quieter than my old Blizzaks.

They will be tight fitment depends on your tire sizing you will also Def need fender adjustment and slightccamber in the front

Where did u find the Crosstrek flares at?

I have the wheel arriving today for test fitting.

It's a Crosstrek, so I found them on the car.

It's going to be close!

I'm sure when the suspension compresses, the 1" of poke will be reduced to basically naught.

I have been tossing around the same question, but I think I've decided on going 18's..

In relation, I think I have narrowed it down to a couple wheels in particular. The one main set being the Rota Tarmac 3's in 18x8 +48. I have seen these on other Subaru's and they look real clean. And being the same offset, just one inch taller and one inch wider, it seems like the fitment and specs will be easily safe to run daily. However, what size tires would you suggest for this sizing? I know a lot of guys run 225/40's on this type of size. Would that be good? Or a little bigger like a 235/40, etc? The car will be on coils with a drop, not slammed. It's still a 20k mile a year daily. haha

No matter what I get, I want them to be about 3/4 of an inch taller than stock

I would go with 17s so you can go with less low profile tires if you plan to go off road more. If you are going to drive on the pavement 18s are fine but the 225/40r18 tires are really low profile and a bumpy ride. I wish I would have stuck with 17s and not gone with 18x8 235/45r18 tires. Now I have to install 1" subtle solutions lift so my tires don't rub when I hit big bumps. It is cheaper for the 17s as well.

If you go with 17x8 wheel and 215/50r17 tires they would be 0.4" taller and 0.4" wider. I think that is about as big as you could go with out rubbing? They would be 25.5" tall I'm at 26.3" tall and I rub on big bumps.

I'm going 18's though, had 4 sets of 17's on this car and tired of messing around.. lol

It looks like 235/40/18 is a more optimal size for the wheel, and cosmetically looks better too. Looking more into it..

I had 18x7.5 Volk GTN's on my 11 Si with 225/40/18's (I believe) and the car was on Skunk2 race springs. Zero issues at all. There's other guys on here who have also ran 18x8's, so I know it's able to be done..

I have no issue with rolling fenders, and I can get it done properly at Moore too..

Oh, I am adding coils though too, so there will be less play and room for it to rub..

Just used the tire size calculator, and 235/40/18 is definitely the way to go. It's identical to the 225/45/17 I ran, and the same tallness, but a touch wider than our stock 205/50/17 tires.

Out of curiosity, what made you go 235/45?

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to go with 17x8.25 with 215/50r17

On my 17x7.5's, it came with Hankook V4's in 225/45. They were a little poked inwards. I'd probably go 235/45 like the stock WRX tires for anything wider than 17x7, cosmetically at least.

Really? I saw the exact set up I was looking at on a wrx and I thought it looked pretty good. I'm worried about 235's rubbing

I mean, there's a few folks on here running 17x8 WRX wheels with 235/45 stock WRX tires. So I'd assume you'd be fine. Remember though, a 235/45 will be differently shaped on a 17x7 than it would be on a 17x8.

So the 18x8 wheels with 225/40r18 don't rub at all on stock suspension. They are how ever really low profile I would say pavment driving only. If you hit a pot hole at higher speeds theirs a real good chance you are going to bend a wheel. I traded out that size for 235/45r18 on the same wheels to have less low profile tires and they rub a little hitting big bumps. 1" lift spacers should fix that though I'll just have to wait and see.

Is this your first car with low profile tires? lol A rough ride on low profiles isn't exactly a new concept. Obviously if you go from squishy 50 profiles to some stiff 40's, it'll ride a bit differently..

All I can say is on this car, I've ran the stock 205/50 on 17x7. Also 215/45 on 17x7. As well as 225/45 on 17x7.5. All with no issues whatsoever. Stock suspension, all +48 offset wheels. On other cars, I have never ran less than 40 profile, but I also don't slam my car and have ill-fitting tires. I usually just get a good stance, with beefier low profile tires.

It's a trade off between managing comfort and cosmeticay appealing. The trick is balancing that. You don't want too wide of a tire or you'll rub. But you also don't want too narrow or it won't handle well and look stupid unless you car is slammed to the ground.

For 17x7-17x8 I'd stick around 215/45 or 225/45. Best thing to do is go to a tire place that stocks a lot in plain view (Pep Boys) and compare. Different brands and models within brands are sized differently too. Such as, my 225/40 Goodyears were a little wider on my Volks than my 225/40 Nittos were. Eagle GT-W's vs Neo Gen.

Yeah but the offset on my new rims will be +35. If you Google "xxr 17x8.25 215/50r17" you will see a white hatch with gold rims. Just to give you an idea of fitment if anyone is interested lol
