Sounds worse than it is.

yup its actually easier than it sounds. just got to unscrew a few screws and remove the grey/silver panel, the glove box and thats it. you can technically reach under it all i think but it might be a pain to find the slot.

There are three Clips on the bottom of each fog light. You have to stick a flat head between the head of the clip and the body of the clip, clip and the car. Then twist and pull it out. There are one on the side and two towards the front.

Then you need to remove one bolt. Yes, one bolt is all that is securely holding the foglight in place.

Here is a comparison picture between the stock and the outback.

This is how the old fog light is mounted in the car. I removed the cover just to show you the comparison of how it looks mounted. You don't have to remove the cover, but it could make it easy. Just push from behind.

This is the new one.

I will get a picture with them on later tonight. and a comparison picture some time next week or just go look at your own. LOL

UPDATE!

Comparison pictures. These were at my parking garage incline. I did one facing towards the incline and one down the incline.
Facing up incline Headlights only:

Facing up incline, head lights and fog lights.

facing down the incline head lights only:

Facing down the incline, head lights and fog lights:

Did you aim your stock ones? I don't notice much difference between properly aimed stock and these.

And these seem to building condensation

not sealed properly? weird....i did aim them, but maybe i didnt do a good job. ill have to mess with it since you said you didnt notice that big of a difference....but shouldnt be be noticeable since the wattage is higher in your new fogs?

it is a little brighter, and the same area is lit up (so i think i got them pretty dang close) but in dense fog (airport was reporting 500ft of forward visibility this morning) they still don't do much. it could just be the lack of color differential

and both lights are building just a little condensation in the same spots, so I'm not sure.

I double checked my aim this morning, they are currently about 4.5" low at 10ft and should be 2.4" low, when I get my overlays on I will fix that

I noticed many new imprezas on the dealer lot this morning had no chrome rings around the fogs. Are these from the kit only? I may end up returning these unless they look really cool.

Or do the Limiteds have the chrome trim, while the other Impreza models don't?

FWIW, I was able to reach up and feel where that relay went, then reach up and stuff it in without removing anything. Bottom right of relay block as I recall.

When I installed the fogs on my car, the kit came with shiny trim around the fogs. I could have popped off the blank plate and used the original parts too if I wanted to.

You are correct. Unless you add them from the accessory catalog.

Received my fog assemblies. Here's some unboxing pictures and a Subaru Parts Warehouse mini review:

Pricing: Very good (especially with the spring coupon).
Ordering processing: 1 business day
Shipping (to WA): 5 business days
Packaging: Good

As promised, here are pics of the relay location. If you just put the seat back and lay on the floor and look up behind the glovebox it is literally right there. It's so easy, a caveman could do it. (note the new relay for the fogs is the big grey one that sticks out.)

Also, as stated in previous posts, to all concerned about locating the wires for the assemblies; once you pop the fasteners on the bottom of the front bumper, and pop the assembly covers off the wires are right there taped to the frame rail. Mine had blue tape. Very easy to locate. This mod is very easy and I think anyone could do it.

I went with yellow bulbs instead of overlays, they fogs do not appear as yellow as I had hoped with the reflection when not lit, but they do their function when on.

The whole downside of these and the stock fogs is you cannot turn of the headlights to get their most effective, the light reflected back from the low beams reduces the effectiveness of the fogs.

Rather than trying to put lipstick on a pig and get any kind of decent light from the factory fogs I think I'm going to go for a pair of Hella fogs in the lower grill area. That way I think I can run the DRL's and parking lights then manually control the fogs to start then wire the hella fused relay though the DRL's for switch power to operate the relay. I have not actually looked at what lights come on with the first setting just that the DRL's come on as soon as I put it into drive so I don't know if I have tail lights at that point. Won't do any of this until I figure out how to mount them.

Flicked on the parking lights and I get rear markers and front markers, I'll look around for an unused fuse that is ignition controlled to operate the hella fused relay and grab light power from the battery. There are a heck of a lot of bulbs in those light housings.

Parking lights are supposed to be the front and rear markers so what you saw is correct.

I would just go straight to your battery for the relay power and tap a light near the housing for the trigger

Cool

Did the upgrade, hardwired H11 pigtails in (good ones, not the junk from Autolumination,) and upgraded the OEM H11 bulbs to Philips X-Treme Vision.

Done. Nice upgrade.

Thanks for posting!

Report thus far: No condensation as you stated FlyBoy. It was fairly cold here today too, 45 deg.

I'll keep tabs on them and report if I find different results..

BTW - Philips X-treme Vision H11's in both low beams, and fogs are a great upgrade!
