So I managed to strip a wheel stud when I was rotatiing my tires. Anyone know how hard it is to replace? I know the parts are pretty cheap (<$3 for a new stud)..
I suppose I'll need a new lugnut too...so I might as well replace them all. Who carries Kyukogen (sp?) lugnuts for our cars? Thanks

They have to be pressed in. I know my old Toyota had 2 of them snapped off (due to the idiots at the Toyota dealer) and they wanted $125 for the front rotors to have a stud drilled out and press a new one in. And $109 for the drum. I paid for neither. But it's not a cheap process from what I understand.

I'd say to ask the Mid-A mechanical guru... aka Scott as he had to do that in order to get his foot wide super swampers to fit on the Brat. I'll let him notice this though.

It's really not too difficult at all. Try this ->http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...wheel+and+stud

I have done this 24 times in the last 2 weeks. Bang out the dead one with a BFH. Tap a new one into place just enough to hold it. Slip on your spare and put a lugnut on the new stud and start tightening. It will seat the stud.

Scott-
Do I need to take off the brake rotor? It's on the rear if it makes a difference. |
