I could probably do that. Its only 2 hours from me. Do they have them in pretty regularly? I would call before I went of course.

A lot of people house them in 120/125 for their entire life to no detriment. I will be housing 2 in a 180. I had him in a 55 temporarily and he didn't mind one bit.

Yeah, it's awesome to watch them play around (I've got 3 right now). I recommend getting some of them too, they are recommended tank mates for rays and definitely have cool personalities.

That's another fish I've never had. The ray really doesn't take up a lot of tank so I could probably do a pair of them and one ray.

I would, and they grow at a steady pace too. Mine have grown about an inch per month. You could get some delhzi polypterus, but they are slightly more aggressive and about twice as expensive.

I'm going to have the following in my 180:
2x rays
6x polypterus (bichirs)
2x fire eel

Are the bichirs called dragonfish? Cause they look like a dragon.

Quick question for anyone about tank layout :

Anyone have ideas for softer/smooth tank layout items? Looking to redo everything soon with a more natural feel.

I had a fake tree in there for awhile (I think made of resin), but it was very hard / rough surface and had some scale loss issues since my fish is pretty active and would knock into everything (most have grown back) -- so looking for ideas of things that I can put in there that are more smooth / rounded and less likely to cause injury when the little guy goes ape****

Also anyone have a good source for live aquarium plants? I've been getting them from petco as they basically end up as food, but the variety is kind of limited.

Yup Exotic Aquatics is gone. Fortunately it dissolved into two shops: CTE Aquatics in Timonium, and Go Fish in Rosedale. CTE is purely saltwater, with what looks like a more boutique-y selection. Go Fish has a good selection of fresh and saltwater livestock, but doesn't have much coral atm. Both are definitely worth checking out if interested in their respective products- they each looked great with very clean, healthy tanks.

Freshwater cherry shrimp? Do you breed them?

I want some but not at $8 each that fish stores or liveaquaria want.

Id love to breed cherry or bamboo shrimp.

I need to buy some siamese algae eaters asap. I've got a little bit of green algae starting to come up.

Damn, he's a big guy. What size tank was he in? That's crazy.

I wish I could build a 1000+ gallon tank and get a leopoldi ray pair.

See what she says Red, I'll try to meet up with you sometime to grab a few whenever you aren't busy.

Any of you guys have access to siamese algae eaters local to you? I need 3-5 of them.
